ok i had my third lucid last night after taking a break from trying for a week or two. the first two i had i woke up as soon as i realized i was dreaming and last night i realized i was dreaming, i told my friend who was with me in my dream and remained calm, i couldnt spin because i was in the air so i looked at my hands and concentrated and then i "woke up" only, i woke up in my dream and lost lucidity... i was wondering if anyone when they first started had experiences like this and if im improving by what i did last night.. with more practice am i getting closer? thanks

Hey Drewh,

Congrats on extending your time in lucid land! :goodjob:

Sounds like you had a "false awakening", and that's pretty common with all dreamers (even non-lucids).

I kind of see that as the mind's last line of defense in f*@!kin with your head. It figures you got though the first line (by becoming lucidi n the first place), so it gets you to THNIK you've woken up to throw you off again. I just don't know why it insists we remain non-lucid. :shakehead:

But anyway, practice will help in that the more you get to know that lucid feeling when you're lucid - the easier it will be for you to recognize it. That (at least to me) seems to be the most difficult thing to "master" and is pretty much an ongoing goal.

Keep at it!

When you spin or look at your hands it's very common to have false awakenings, make sure you remind yourself while doing these techniques that it's a dream. Maybe something like "When I look away from these hands I will be in a dream" or just a "I'm dreaming, don't forget I'm dreaming" thought as you do these things always help. Also these habits are hard to form, but I would suggest doing a reality check everytime you get out of bed in the morning so maybe you'll do it during a false awakening and save your lucidity.

Good luck :goodjob2:

Keep doing what your doing, yes anything that kind of involves the senses will help you to maintain the LD world YOUR WORLD YAY! It defiently sounds like you did improve from before, so just keep at it, and don't get discouraged if you don't immediately get results because you can do it!

Good luck,

and may more LD's for you and me
