So, I have a terrible fever. I'm not sure what the hell is going on. I mean, I've been getting cold/hot chills all day, headaches, and I've also been feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Anyone know what's up? I originally thought it was the fact that I took my birth control without food, but it's never affected me before, and I've eaten a meal since then. How can I break through the fever??

Sounds like a virus.
Bed rest, lots of it, plenty of fluids. Also, you may consider something like Ibuprofin to take the edge off.

You can take a lukewarm bath to help get your fever down. Don't make the water too cool though. And yeah, some ibuprofen wouldn't hurt, just make sure you get something in your stomach with it, like some saltine crackers.
And most importantly, get some rest, Gwen. Feel better soon!

If it's a fever - to the doctor you go. A fever isn't a simple cold so no joking around with it.
See a doctor, who might perscribe anti-biotics or what not, depending on what the virus is. And don't waste time either, healing such ailments alone when there is modern medicine around is a dangerous risk.

But aye, get better soon!

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the suggestions, and all. I went to bed last night, and the fever is mostly gone. I still feel a little woozy....I am starting to get a flu, or something like that I guess. I guess I freaked because I'd never had this, when getting a flu or cold. It's always been just a runny nose and sore throat. I've never felt the fatigue headachey almost hallucinating side. I mean, I woke up really early, and I don't think I can get back to bed but at least I feel a little better. :)

If you don't feel significantly better by tomorrow.. please go to the doctor. We want you healthy and a doctor may be able to prescribe you something to get you there (plus sometimes it helps just to know what's wrong .. i.e., cold vs flu vs strep, etc.)!

Flu shots are most effective if given in the first 48 hours of symptoms, so I don't know how much help that would be. Just keep an eye on things and if it doesn't let up soon or worsens, please consider your Dr. You might give him a call to ask his advice just to be safe. Say, isn't there a clinic on campus you can visit?

I usually sleep when I have fever. That settles the problem 99% of the times. But if sleeping doesn't help, go to a doctor.

Yeah, there is. I'm thinking of getting one for next time. My fever is gone, and my dizziness went away, thank goodness. I still have a sore throat and headaches, but not much else, so I think I'm alright. Thanks for the advice guys!

Step one:
Kung Fu. Best cure for fever, herpes and arachnaphobia.

Besides that: Hmmm, don't forget to drink water, right? Also, just keep it easy, don't stress it, if you eat stuff let it be healthy stuff aaaannnddd don't drink liquid soap.

Get well soon!

Edit: Oh, you are already better! Great. You can have a 'Get Well Soon' card me from, like a 'Get out of Jail' card, only better. MHKAY
