I'm pretty sure this goes here.
Anyway, I DESPRATELY need assistance in lucid dreaming. I'm losing hope. End of course Tests are next week, I'm failing 2 classes, summer school may be in my future, and I'm letting my parents down. All this stress is both freaking me out and driving me crazy.
It also seems like because of the stress, my subcon is playing games with me. It keeps throwing dreams at me with some of the most OBVIOUS dreamsigns in the world, and yet they STILL don't trigger lucidity. I'm pretty sure I've tried everything I can think of, but it's not helping. I still need to PM Barbizzle (adopter) and get some advise from him, but I'm thinking if I'm gonna have another LD, I need some more (and alot of) help.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my pitiful cry for help. I'm gonna try to LD tonight. Actually right now. I'm going to bed. Japanese language lessons in the morning. Bye-bye.

Stress is among the highest ranking factors that can be of negative influence on your LDing-life. Obviously, like you said your currently in a lot of stress (and Im sorry to hear, I hope it gets a little better soon).
And the only -real- remedy for this is to get rid of the stress in your life, but of course its not that easy. =/ My advice would be, to not worry too much about your LDs right now, and rather focus on clearing your mind and getting a good night rest without the (Even more) stress of having to try to have an LD. You can try with minimum effort, but I wouldnt try -too- hard. Trying too hard generally doesnt help anyway.
Just stay patient and focus on relaxing and letting go of stress, and who knows you might just LD sometimes :) And then later, when things calm down in your life a little (like when you settle things with school) you can start trying more actively again.
Or if you feel like youre calm at night, try reading a book on LDing. The thing with stress is, it often clutters your mind with day to day stuff, causing you to not LD, and rather dream about all that stuff. So its important to clear your head :)

What Lucius said. It really sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Don't put more pressure on yourself. You need to decrease your stress by changing what you can control. So don't worry about dreaming right now, just wait until you have a more relaxed time and then get back to it. You're not wasting time; the idea of lucid dreaming is in your subconscious and it will be thinking about it. You can even tell yourself I don't care about lucid dreaming anymore (strenuously, so your SC hears.) Then mean it, for a while, and who knows, you might be surprised. At least you will get rid of one thing on your mind so you can concentrate on the (important) stuff.
Good luck with school.

Hi, don't merge inability to have LDs as part of Ur failure list. LDing is a very special skill...not Ur Japanese class... etc. All U need is time and the mood for it simply because it is mood dependant, it's not objective or something that is already there whether U feel like it or not. Desperation only works sometimes, most of the time it dosen't help. I also have a few dreamsigns but so far never recognised them...OK only once..a horse and I still din't become lucid even after I did the hand RC..:(. But so far what works the BEST for me is not dreamsigns but actions or ideas that reminds me of LDing before I sleep and most importantly during WBTB. Maybe for U could try images or anything or whatever action or ritual that is LD related or suggests LDing before U sleep and during WBTB. Action speaks louder than words IMO....:).

Focus on your real-world problems first. Having a lucid dream may seem like the perfect thing to relieve your stress, but it's harder to have one when you're stressed. Forget about lucid dreaming. Get a decent amount of sleep each night, and deal with life. When you're back to normality, that's when you should try LDing again.
I'm not the most experienced, but I hope it helps.

Hi, I agree completely. I used to think that LDing could be used to relieve stress but it's the opposite.......relieve stress first then U can LD. I had a mild toothache few days ago and I was distressed to go to the dentist......and my dream suffered. But later in the night I calmed my self down and focused on LDing and nothing else and I had a super vivid LD that same night... :content: .

Actually stress helps random sleep paralysis occur, which you can launch a lucid from. (though the paralysis may not be a pleasant experiece at all especially when stressed out)

I feel you buddy. I'm going through the exact same thing, Schools pushing, parents complaining, teacher's annoying, and everything around you just collapses.
I've been having a dry-spell for like.. I don't know how long.. but Long I tell you, and I've realised my life-situation is the problem, my mind is all stressed out and the only thing that I can think about is how everything around me doesn't work in a way of harmony. Not even my dream-recall is working properly, I can't wait til school's over, so I can just throw it all away and be at peace.
BUT!
Do as I did. last night actually, I really got tired of this, I haven't remembered a single dream in weeks. And I thought To get lucid with no dream-recall and my mind stressed out, it's never going to work. So, I start from scratch again..
before I went to bed I told myself, I'd be damned if I'm not going to recall any dream this night. So before bed, I sat and surfed this site " attaining Lucidity " and I just read and read ( even though I've read it all before ) I just kept on reading, just to fill my mind with info about Lucid dreaming, to refresh it.
So, I went to bed and I thought. I can't go to sleep with that bad feeling in my stomach, and all my thoughts circulating amongst things that doesn't have anything to do with the present ( Sleeping/dreaming )
So I thought to myself, I gotta clear my mind of everything and focus on what's important.
I start using the WILD-technique, not to actually make a successfull WILD, just to get to the relaxed enough to feel that I'm in harmony with myself.
And during this, I tell myself over and over again, I will recall my dreams, I will recall where I was this night, I will NOT let myself down and not remembering anything from the night. And I kept focusing on this, while stil doing the relaxation and I notice how my body starts getting numb, my HI's- getting more vivid and after about 20 minutes (or more, don't know for how long ) But til it felt right. I change sleeping position, and tell myself, now I'm off to sleep. And I fall asleep almost emediately.
And to the results... YES!
This worked awesome for me ( no lucid dream ) BUT, I remember 2 dreams of the night and they were Vivid.. Oooh were they Vivid. Can't understand why I didn't become lucid, cuz they were both Vivid and very-not-real. I once looked into a mirror and I saw a diffrent person, but did I care? no, I kept on going with my new look and thought I'd look cool and dandy.
But to the point.. It gave Good results, 2 Vivid dreams and I can remember them almost perfectly.. I think i'm going to use this method every night. It's worth offering 20 - 40 minutes of sleep to do this. It's so relaxing and It just is a relief to clear your mind from all your troubles.
You should try this yourself, I can't promise anything, but.. what do ye got to lose, eh?
*Edit and by the way. I'm sorry if this was bad written. I'm in school So I've gotta write fast, so I might miss grammar-ethics and such, sorry again.
