Blocking your sense of smell and taste!

Hey, just wondering if anyone else can block their sense of taste and smell, i can, is it an abnormallity? Like whenever someone farts and it really smells i can just block my sense of smell.

Just hold your nose close.

If you can't smell it, you can't taste it. Thats what I always say.

no but i can do this thing without holding my nose, i just do this thing, i can't explain it and i just can't smell or taste

I can't do it instantly, on command, but I can get used to smells. So that after a few minutes I don't notice them. Also when eating something I can kinda ignore the taste if I want to, but I can't block it out altogether. ( I think I might hold my breath when I do this, I dunno)

I just breath through my mouth, instead of my nose. Then I can't smell.

I must be nice to be able to ignore bad stenches without first having to catch a whiff of it.

i don't get it, i can block my sense of taste and smell yet i like the smell and taste of tuna lol, its my favourite topping for a sandwitch :)

The odor isn't so bad, per se'. It's just sooo overpowering that it's highly obnoxious.

Don't take it wrong but I think you are! This is awesome, and I don't think I ever heard of someone doing this before. And it could come in so handy at times!
It's a shame you can't teach us...

No, not at all. The worst that could happen is you get some in your sinus cavities. Even that is no big deal. And, besides, stuff goes down towards your stomach when you swallow, not up towards your scalp ;)
