Hey everybody. I was just wondering if anybody online was acquainted with the Rosicrucian Order? Is anyone here a member? Who's heard of them, and what do people know about them?

The Rosicrucians have been around for a long time. This religion is a sort of mistical christianism. Basically they are christians that aim for spiritual evolution. They formulated a model for the cosmos including the seven most known spiritual planes. They have done this with the help of higher beings with which they train themselves to contact. Most information is in the book The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception by Max Heindel.

My Grandad and Great Uncle were Freemasons, is that connected to it?

From Wikipedia:
"Alleged influence on Freemasonry
18° Knight of the Rose Croix jewel (from the Masonic Scottish Rite)
18° Knight of the Rose Croix jewel (from the Masonic Scottish Rite)
According to Jean Pierre Bayard, two Rosicrucian-inspired Masonic rites emerged from the end of 18th century. One was the Rectified Scottish Rite, which was widespread in Central Europe where there was a strong presence of the "Golden and Rosy Cross". The other was the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, first practiced in France, in which the 18th degree is called Knight of the Rose Croix.
Although many attempts have been made to learn about the change from "operative" to "speculative" Masonry, no definitive answer has yet been found, other than that it occurred between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. Two of the first speculative Masons were Sir Robert Moray and Elias Ashmole.
There is no evidence for Chistopher McIntosh's speculation that Robert Fludd may have been a Mason, nor to support Waite's speculation that Fludd may have introduced a Rosicrucian influence into Freemasonry. However, Robert Vanloo states that earlier 17th century Rosicrucianism had a considerable influence on Anglo-Saxon Masonry. Hans Schick sees in the Rosicrucian works of Comenius (1592-1670) the ideal of the newly born English Masonry before the foundation of the Grand Lodge in 1717. Comenius was in England during 1641."

I found out the relation between rosicrucianism and freemasonry is that both started by being secret spiritual societies. Don't know about the practices, though...

There is a masonic/rosicrucian connection, but i think only people who belong to both societies truly know what it is. NeAvO, you're right though, a lot of stuff that's written about the masons is crap. They are good old boys, and they certainly take care of each other, and it also seems that a bunch of american presidents have belonged to the brotherhood, but as for all the conspiracy theories....i don't know. I don't think the Rosicrucians are christian really though, i think people just get confused because they use a rose on a cross as their symbol.

They're christians, they follow the principles of Jesus Christ, it's all over their books. They've just chosen to take a more mystical path. They also present their own interpretation of the bible. Makes a lot more sense than most interpretations I've heard...

I have a book containing information on them but it's all symbols and weird graphs and stuff. They were trying to find spiritual truth through geometric truth, sort of like pythagoras, I guess, but I haven't really read about them yet so I don't know.

It's in their book "The Rosicrucian cosmo-conception" I think only the genesis and maybe some other books of the bible are included.
