Tell me the basics. I need some beginner tricks and tips on how to land without breaking my neck. Thanks!

Easy. Dont 'dive' into the mat. haha. But seriously. ALWAYS try to OVER-DUE your tricks and not under do them. You're less likely to get hurt if you over do a front flip.

Try frontflips before backflips. It is much easier to correct yourself and avoid landing wrong in midair when doing a frontflip than a backflip.

All you really have to keep in mind when learning new trampoline tricks is that you most likely won't hurt yourself too bad if you completely commit to a trick. If you hesitate you have a much higher chance of landing wrong because you freak out mid air, and have absolutely no control over yourself.

Also, if your going to try out a front flip, have the edge of the trampoline facing your back. Since, you will be jumping forward, you want as much trampoline ahead of you as possible so you don't jump too far and fly off the far edge of it. Vice versa with a back flip.

After than you can throw a few spins in with your backflips/frontflips and turn them into mistyflips or whatever those youngersters are calling them these days.

Remember commit and don't hesitate. Good luck :)

My recommendation:

DON'T USE A TRAMPOLINE

I broke my ankle AND my back (at the same time) on one. I'm warning you now - DON'T DO IT.

What happened?

As for over-duing my tricks, I just learned one where you jump up and dive face first into the tramp, but at the last sec, curl your neck and land on your back. It's kind of like half of a front flip.

What happened?
I got double-bounced (you know when you go REALLY high) off it, and with the way I landed on the ground, I broke my ankle and my back.

Here's the x-ray of my ankle after the surgery to re-attach the bone with surgical screws. The screws are still in my ankle to this day.

And I will always have back problems now. It's just not worth it - it only takes one weird thing to happen and you're screwed.

Yep, I'm very lucky. My spinal cord wasn't damaged at all, or else I would be paralyzed - luckily is was just a compression fracture in one of the vertebrae. It's a miracle it wasn't worse than it was - all it would've taken is a stray bone fragment to damage the spinal cord and I may be in a wheelchair right now. So that's why I say the risk is just not worth it. There have been unluckier people than me who are dead or permanently paralyzed because of trampolines.

Yeah I know that jump you described. Where I lived this Navajo Indian named Art could do that. He jumped until he got real high then jack knifed and headed straight down to the mat face first. When all the girls screamed he would tuck his head and land on his shoulders then roll up to his feet and be allright. They called it "THE SUICIDE" I hope your really careful with that one.

Get a trampoline with a net. They are so awesome... mainly because you can jump on em and everything. Though... that only worked when I was a LOT younger and a LOT lighter, nowadays I'd probably break one of those nets
