I've studied the mentioned topics for the past 25 years, and am pretty much constantly immersed in the creation of computer music, recording, synthesis, MIDI, etc.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have, including those about specific software packages (if I know them) and how digital signal processing works.

Hey skysaw,

I feel like making some parisian style club music, what programs or insturments or software do you think Justice used to make this song thatI linked? In other words what should I buy to make songs like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo_QVq2lGMs

or maybe to sound like this:

Hey, that first video was pretty hypnotic. :alien:

What platform are you on, and how much money are you looking to spend?

You could probably achieve a lot of what's going on in these songs with Sony's Acid program, especially the second song. It's loop-based, which means that songs with a lot of repeated material are very easy to create.

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask this question....

I'm eager to know what kind of unit is being used in the following clip by the vocalist. But i must put a disclaimer up before i post the link :p I'm aware that this kind of music isn't in everybody's interest, so i understand if you have trouble watching the clip. I just ask that you start the clip with an open mind, just to see whether or not you can name the unit or type of unit for me, as i have no idea where to start. Thank you :D

skysaw, I've got a dell laptop. maybe a couple hundred dollars.

I was searching around and found something called ReBirth. ( a free program with emulations of the Roland TR-80, TR-909, TB-303) that would be some 80s beats for sure.

hey Ardent, digging the japanoise! the guy doing vocals is from Boredoms right?

I couldn't tell you exactly what he's using, but by the sound, it seems to be some sort of resonant filter with feedback and delay. It could be a stand-alone section of an old modular synth.
