I'm dodo, live in Tel-Aviv, Israel. I'm 32 years old. I'm a computer programmer, but also a musician ( singer/ song writer). These days I'm working on writing my first novel ( which is about dreams ). I'm single, straight, a bit weird. Some kind of a shy, solitary and rather artistic geek. I love animals, I'm vegan. I believe that there is no such thing as evil, only ignorance. I try to love all, but I'm not very social. Late at night, if you lean your ear out the window, you may hear me sing, as I go by.

In a world where every consciousness is but a segment of what is possibly a larger entity, or has the potential to become so, one only wishes to find someone who sees past the physical plane, and cherishes others who are good. What is it that compels you? Money? Love? Fame? War? Peace? If we are motivated by one goal we are surely doomed, for all of these things are selfish. Every action, every thought ever conceived by man has been one of greed. Every gift given, every charity or sacrifice presents the sender with a sense of self gratitude. So, is there such a thing as a selfless deed? Or, is it possible that it is the act of striving towards this goodness that is important? Just as it is impossible to be a perfectly pure man, but one should always try his hardest. And once we obtain this object of desire; that which compels us; what is left? Shall we be happy at that point? I don't think so. This is much like the meaning of life, in that if one was to discover the meaning to his life, and reached this goal, what more is there to live for? Such a man would surely be dissappointed, or he would still strive for a bigger, better meaning. Buddha taught that if one was not happy with his life, it was because he was longing for the wrong things. Perhaps if one were to modify his ambitions and dream for those things that are well within his reach, he would be truly in a heaven all his own. If a man could obtain pleasure from every activity he engages in, he would die a very happy man. But is this real happiness, or would one be fooling himself? The gods punished Sisyphus by dooming him to push a rock up a mountain for the rest of his days. As soon as he pushed one rock up the mountain, another would fall. This reminds me of the daily grind of life in the current human society. On the other hand, I've often thought that if the gods had pity on Sisyphus, and caused him to draw direct pleasure from his monotonous rock pushing, then he would indeed be happy regardless of the reality of the situation, just as individuals have been drawn to money and fame and the daily grind for so long that they cannot see the stones falling down around them. They are content repeating the same process over and over until their dying day. If Sisyphus would ever stop and think about what he's doing, he would realize that there is no reason to get the rocks to the top of the hill. People never question the meaning of life until something interrupts their daily cycle, or until it withers away slowly. So, are we striving to achieve the wrong things? Who can ever say for sure? The words "I know..." are best spoken by fools. But I have found that I cannot look past this concept. It has haunted me like a plague in the past, taking my will and my sanity. Finally I let go. If there is a meaning of life it is either undiscoverable, unconfirmable, or too advanced for a puny mind such as mine to comprehend. So, having no meaning, and no ends, I live contently in the comfort of this ignorance. I am okay having no answers, and just perhaps that in itself is the answer. Some would take this concept and hide in a corner, denying it, or losing the will to live, but I try to see past this. "Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing." -tool. Is life anything more than a small period of time in which we have an opportunity to enjoy this world? Do we need anything more? Do we deserve anything more? The time itself is the most beautiful gift that can ever be bestowed upon a soul. Isn't it selfish in it's own right to need a reason for living? For everything we think we know, animals are the ones who realize this more than anyone. They do not strive for reason, but live in the comfort of this plane, enjoying the savage fruits of the earth. So, who are the enlightened ones of this planet? Nature is pure. No lies. No broken promises. No explanation. The earth never takes away what it hasn't already given. Native Americans lived on this land long before we did. As we spent our days indoors, they spent their entire life in the wilderness, in the element, under the stars. Regardless of this, they still have at least as much brain capacity as we did. They learned and studied nature everyday for generations. It is interesting that they would respect their kills, and honor nature. Animals are also very close to the earth, of course. And while they don't necessarily respect their food, they don't usually cause more harm than they need to. They do not kill more than they can eat, and they do not prolong death anymore than needed. Wolves are a fair representation of my personality. They are pack animals, and while they are preditors, they do only what is needed to survive. The savage nature of these beasts fascinates me almost as much as consciousness itself. The brotherly bond between these animals is something that we lack, and it is desirable for me. While wolves are sometimes with more than one mate in their lifetime, they are generally monogomous. I sometimes imagine how pure love would be if no words need be spoken. A wolf will protect his mate savagely, and so will I. My love is a savage and ruthless, but delicate thing. It is free from contstraints, inhibitions, impurities, and limits. "Love always gives. It never takes away." -Love Why are men possessive, abusive, or controlling? These things truly strip a man of his manhood, and most don't realize it. A real man can enjoy what it is to be a man. Women are pure too, but they suffer from the same condition. They search for the wrong things, I think. A female that cannot see past this is either cold, undeserving or both. The root of the woman, however, is the purest thing imaginable. The force that draws two people together is one of the very few primitive instincts that man has not abandoned and I think that says something. We are still drawn to one another and nothing about that has changed. The better the sex is, in fact, the more savage and ravaging it becomes. I think love between a man and a woman should be open and uninhibited. Unreserved and raw. Each partner should belong to, and own the other. Together they will be eleven. The heart of a woman is such an attractive thing that it takes hold of a man at his deepest level. Very few forces are as powerful. I embrace it. There must be more than one type of love, however. I think it is possible to love many people, as long as they are loveable. One should love all of his friends, and should do whatever it takes to accomodate them in their endeavors. Why are we so closed off? So reserved? Physical objects can never take the place of a friend, so why treat them better? Why does the average person hold a barrier before his friend? This is wrong. I suppose some people are untrusting. Take a fucking chance! Have some adventure. What's the point of having a friend if you can't trust them? What can you lose? Material things? Fuck it all.

I am half dutch, half english and am living on the med at the moment but have lived in the States and the UK in the past.
I love dreams and I love reality, especially because of the contrast. I also love paragraphs but nevertheless since I can't produce what Sloth did I read it instead. Like Sloth is a wolf, I would see myself as a cat. Fickle and self-centred, but affectionate and kind-hearted.
I have just graduated from high school and am about to start studying to get qualified in French and English law! Wish me luck :p
p.s. I think Kowalski is the perfect name for a composer/musician :) like Tchaikovsky

Man of Steel
07-11-2007, 08:45 PM
I'm the Man of Steel, I hail from the planet Krypton, which was destroyed when I was but an infant, taking my parents and nearly every other member of the highly advanced Kryptonian race with it. Some may know me as Superman, others may know me by my mild-mannered alter ego, Clark Kent. I'm a clumsy, nearsighted reporter by day (9-5), a crime-fighting superhero by night. I am invincible, for all intents and purposes. I enjoy hot dogs, long flights over the beach in the moonlight, bending steel beams with my bare hands, and Lois Lane.
Now then, all smartass-ness and sardonic commentary aside, my name is Josh. I'm from mid-West Georgia, I'm 18 as of just this month, pretty average-looking, very Southern, straight as an arrow, white, and a big Star Wars fan. However, I definitely don't fit the "geek" stereotype. I live way back in the woods, spend a good bit of time outside, and will hopefully soon be a part-time bladesmith. I'm what might be called a knife-knut; I collect knives. I also like to read a lot, mostly sci-fi/fantasy, but mysteries and thrillers have their place in my bookcase as well. I like doing things with my hands, and writing the occasional short story. Of course, I'm also into lucid dreaming. I'm the youngest of four children, my two sisters and one brother are older by 11 1/2, 14, and 17 years respectively. I live with my parents, helping out as much as possible, as my dad is blind. I have a cat and a Lab mix dog.
And now my fingers are tired. Also, sloth: paragraphs, man! But you're cool anyway.

I'm bi-racial - American Indian (Choctaw) and White (Scots-Irish). Writer by profession. Married to a great guy and have a wonderful 13 y.o. pit bull and a naughty 1 y.o. cat.
I love music (reggae, country, soul, and rock), sporty cars, good food, and dogs, particularly pit bulls. I'm into dreaming, yoga, Tai Chi, hiking, and bird watching. I love animals and nature...except for crickets - they freak me out  I won't eat beef, lamb, or pork and eat very little poultry or fish. The only red meat I'll eat is deer hunter under fair chase restrictions (e.g. shot and bagged in the wild). I make really good fried chicken with cream gravy and drop biscuits.
I'm a Scorpio and Earth Rooster lol. I'm endlessly curious about life, have a strong stomach, am nerdy, high strung, demanding of myself but gentle and patient with others. I love to laugh, sing, and dance and don't waste a lot of time worrying what other people think.
I haven't settled on a religion and don't know if I ever will, but respect many of them if they are practiced with kindness, awareness, and without force or harm to those who don't believe the same.

I'm Chelsey (you're free to call me that on the forums if you like), I'm fifteen, I love music (country and rock generally, fav singers are Montgomery Gentry), I love to sing, I enjoy video games (any Sonic the hedgehog fans out there?), and recently Lucid Dreaming is becoming quite a passion for me as well. I try to get the most out of life. After a horrible experience several years ago that stayed with me mentally and emotionaly for nearly 2 years, I've wanted nothing more than to make up for the time I wasted feeling scared and upset during those two years. I'd rather not talk about that experience, though, and just leave it at this: I have an unending passion for enjoying life. And although I can be quite shy, I love to talk to people! (quite the contradiction there, hm?)
By the way, I'm really new here, so take that 'I love to talk to people' quote as a hint. :D

fastest clocked time to solve the Rubix's Cube: 40 seconds."
geez no way. it takes me 40mins just to do one side. >_>
hahah.
I can still solve them but I haven't done it in so long. I've got to brush up on the moves again. You see, solving the Rubix Cube isn't what most people think it is. The popular conception is that you have to be a genius but, in reality, you only have to learn sequences of moves. No given move set will solve the cube from any random jumble but, there is a certain sequence in which you solve the faces. You actually solve it one layer at a time. The true secret, however, is that there are certain sets of moves that you use to move a piece from a given area to the desired location without disrupting the pieces you've already placed.
The solve sequence is as follows: 1: Solve first layer (get all pieces of one side in their proper locations, turned the correct way). 2: move the four edge pieces of the middle layer into position, facing the proper direction. 3: Move the four corners of the final layer into place. 4: Rotate the four corners of final layer to face the proper direction. 5: Place the four edge pieces of final layer. 6: Rotate the four edge pieces of final layer into proper orientation.
But, yeah, I used to impress the hell out of people at school by doing that. Let people mix it up then solve it before their eyes in times they thought were impossible.
I actually learned when I was about 7 or 8 years old from a little book called "Solving the Cube". I still have that book and use it every so many years to re-learn the patterns. I think the longest move set involves 22 turns.

Hmm, time to see the unrated biography of CoLd!
Life is happy
Parents get divorced in the summer before grade 4
Dad lives with girlfriend, sisters, mom and me have to move out because we can't afford the house (which was nice, too)
Completely friendless in grade 6, isolated from friends
In grade 7 I moved back to my old neighbourhood, grew my hair out and ditched the glasses
In grade 8 I smoked weed for the first time in October, and did it once more near the end of the year
Began smoking weed regularly in grade 9, thought I was nuts
Started playing guitar, improved fast
Got caught on weed, grounded for a month, started blazing at school and doing E with my friend Jack
Got caught on E, curfewed the entire summer, stop doing anything altogether
In grade 10 I picked up my grades, smoked weed occasionally and drank often
Started writing songs
First time doing mushrooms
Went to Maui for 17 days, best time of my life!
Mom met her boyfriend, pack up and move to another city an hour away
In grade 11 my cat died, I tried coke, and mushrooms four more times, yet kept my grades at an A average
Discovered Lucid Dreaming, have had about eight lucid dreams since I started :D
I could make a movie!

Whoever made this topic (don't feel like going to check), good idea. ;)
(Emlee) can i take a guess that you like the show the l word then?
I, too, am fifteen. Hoorah!
& Yes, the L word is a very awesome series of which I am trying to get my father to buy for me. My teenage charm must be failing slightly...I'll have to bump it up so I can get my way. Rofl
& am I allowed to post again? To add more? I'm going to anyhow. :D
I attend a pre-12 grade school with a total population of about 300.
I am nearly always part-way through a book and any time I am bored, I day dream.
I love to sing and dance eventhough i am not the best at either activity.
I am a very shy person at first but once I warm up, I have a vivid personality.
I love to laugh and am very passionate in things I do and believe in/enjoy.
I keep my hair relatively short and in some interesting style.
I am big into body modification. (I currently have 2 piercings per ear, a nose ring and a belly button ring.)
I write short stories and poetry when I feel the mood is right.
I am big into my religion but am not your "typical" Christian gal.
Emlee.

I'm 16 years old
My name is Rob (bet you didn't guess that, right :p)
I plan to join the army (royal electrical and mechanical engineers) after xmas
I like to draw even though I'm really terrible at it
I Just finished my compulsary education and will be doing basically nothing for the next 6 months
I used to do loads of weight training, but gave up after a couple of years showed I wasn't making as much progress as other people and lost motivation.
I have a (possibly unhealthy :p) obsession with Eminem music even though I don't even really like rap.
I have a similar obsession with Delta Goodrem's music too.
I like to think that I'm quite open minded.
I'm a fairly introverted person (which I hate about myself more than anyting else and I'm trying to change).
I love to write stories and I'd love to write a book, but like with the drawing thing I'm terrible at it and It's just never going to happen.
I love music more than anything else (my ears hurt I wear earphones so much) and I want to learn to play the piano. I've had SonicStage (the Sony mp3 player equivelant of itunes) for about 6 months and I have 3500 songs on there already.
That's pretty much all there is to say. :bigteeth:

Hmm, I feel like adding more.
I have both of my ears pierced, and I'm going to get my nipple done at the end of the summer.
I am Canadian.
I'm different than anyone you'll ever meet.
I've written seven songs, including vocals. I am also self taught and have been playing guitar strong for two and a half years. Needless to say, music is my life.
I've never had to pay for a haircut in my life.
I've always been exceptionally gifted at storytelling/writing and poetry.
Open minded to just about everything.
My goal is to own a recording studio and produce music, including my own (maybe get noticed?).

I hate that I own so much stuff I don't use.
I love friendship jewlery...the hand-made kind.
I feel pretty when I grow out my nails and paint them red.
I like to read the bible...and highlight things I disagree with.
I love health food and tofu, but I'm not vegetarian or anything.
I can't stand reclining chairs. I need a chair that supports my posture.
I have hazel eyes but they change with my mood, or with what i wear.
I like to take long walks for no reason.
I feel my best when i am making someone smile.
I find myself making lists alot. I like to do it. I haven't a clue why.

I live in Texas, and no I don't own a horse, but I use to own a goat.
I don't really like talking about myself and I'm not sure why, I guess I don't really see a need in most situations, but this is nice.
I am not good at telling jokes, stories, or describing abstract ideas. I guess I am more "strait to the point". I need to work on describing things though.
I like to laugh.
I like all kinds of music and movies.
I like the city more than the country, but I would like to have some land in the country before it is all gone.
I would like to learn to golf.
I want to fish more.
I like video games.
I think it would be cool to work in the video game or movie industry.
I think I am open minded.
I don't like to judge people.
I don't like people that judge.
I am very easy to get along with.
Hrmm, well,
My name is Mike,
I'm 18 (and about 3 or 4 months)
I am 1 of 2 brothers, the younger, my older brother is 23 living far off in St. Louis :(
I live in Parsipanny, New Jersey.
I've had my share of issues over the past years. I had my childhood friends, but never felt it was quite as it should be. I came from a religeous school, (I now have atheistic views) and made a transition into the public high school system, which was quite difficult, knowing no one.
After 3 1/2 hard-ass years of never quite finding my place in this place, but acheiving almost all A's and B's, I began an insane attack on myself (I guess subconciously trying to improve myself) involving anorexia, and I guess you could call it a major panic attack or a nervous breakdown, running excessively, hundreds of pushups a day and a severe depression. I graduated by means of home instruction, and now intend to put all of that sh*t behind me, and move on, into the more mature world, once I feel ready. (That's another issue)
I still struggle alot with pessimism, sad world views, thoughts about dieting/losing weight/anorexia , and lots of sad thoughts, but am currently trying to find my way through life, whatever it may be. , the first small step, beggining college in September.
I had 2 girlfriends years back, and 3 years ago 1 serious one...
If you've got issues you'd like to speak of, really people, anything, I'm willing to listen.. I may be going into that anyway in one way or another...
oooh more thoughts
-I have a fairly good knowledge of Spanish from 4 solid years of study, and travels to Latin American countries, I like to work with my hands, sketch in my own way, write the occassional poem, play the occassional song, (acoustic guitar) and do a whole lot of deep thinking... and, did I mention, lots of compulsive excercise?
Lucid dreaming has become quite a big thing for me, and just recently I've had my best lucid dream yet, and became quite inspired. I've recognized the potential...
