Ever taken any anti-anxeity drugs or sleeping pills and noticed anything different with your dreams? Such as...

no dreams?
crazy dreams?
lucid dreams?
violent dreams?
nothing different at all?

I took 1.5 MG of Colonazapam (Klonopen) and boy did that sure do two things:

1) make me feel out of it and then put me sleep.
2) make me feel somewhere in between exhausted and feeling like shit the next day.

Some friends of mine have taken Ambien, a very strong sleeping pill, and forced themselves to stay awake. They described it almost like tripping on psychoactive drugs...

I'm wondering if anyone here has done something in this vein yet used it as a gateway towards lucidity?

Unfortunately, with the Colonozapam, it did nothing but knock me on my ass and wipe out any dreams I had. But with Ambien...I'm thinking there might be some potential here.

I often take Lunesta for insomnia, and usually have a lot of trouble recalling any dreams, and very rarely have a LD when I take it. The night before last was an exception, however. I had several prolonged and vivid LDs while using it.

Those that stay awake while inebriated by Ambien experience a deep trance and heavy hallucinations. Ambien is a hypnotic sleep aid.

And Clonazepam: I have it too as a prescription drug for my ADD. I've taken it in low doses for years so I don't know any Noticable difference.

This is true. My wife gets quite loopy on Ambien. She also gets a little "playful."

Would this Ambien be an efficient Knock out pill in case of servere Occasional Insomnia? I sometimes have periods that can last up to 7 months where I can get no or hardily any sleep at all. A backup aid for this would be nice; In rare cases where the restlessness is just becomming psychologically too much ( after 7 months of hardily 1 night of proper sleep you'll know what I mean by Psychologically distressed due to sleep deprivation ) and when I have an important appointment the next day and I cannot afford arriving there totally exhausted.

Would it be easily described though?

Ska, I believe we're in different countries so I don't know how easily it is to get Ambien where you live (I'm in the USA), but I would imagine any doctor would be able to help you with something - 7 months is a severe amount of time to not get any decent rest, and surely any sleeping aid could be of help at this point if you've not used any!!!!

Not being able to sleep is maddening. I've struggled with this due to back pain and it was a rough period of my life.

Here in the USA you can get melatonin without a prescription. I take 10 MG if I'm struggling to sleep or expecting a bout of insomnia coming on and I MUST do something early the next morning & be well rested. It works excellent for me.

Isn't health-care free there in Netherlands?

Healthcare used to be covered by insurance for almost everything, but rightwinged moneybent politicians are breaking down this system bit by bit.

I've had Melatonin on prescription, allthough it is also available in drugstores without prescription. My prescribed Melatonin is at least 5 times more potent than drugstore melatonin: and I can't say it helps at all. It did so for a while, but I can only conclude it was a placebo effect or a coincidence of a good sleeping period which I have plenty of.

I stopped taking melatonin and my sleep appeared unaffected by that. I need something that I can take only on rare occasions of emergency: something that knocks me out. I've taken anti-histamines like this in rare occasions, but also they don't work as they should. At times I contain more energy than a Nuclear power plant.

A hypnotic, heavy duty sleep aid would be desired. I'll consult my doctor.
