Hopefully we'll have better luck with the 5000th or 10000th user...of course, if we ever have that many users then I don't think we would be lucky at all...

it recalculates every day at 2:00 a.m. EST; we had a slow day yesterday (only 4 newbies) so that has increased the amount of remaining time. i only calculate that average based on the last week (and i throw out the highest value), so it'll vary wildly i'd imagine. i think i might adjust it so that it uses two weeks.
