I think I'm getting close

Last night, I was lying in bed, not doing anything special, just trying to sleep normally and I got SP, then my eyes started flicking and I felt a jolt and rush. It took me several tries to open my eyes but between the tries it was still black and I could hear my fan going. Any thoughts on this?

Yes you were experiencing sleep paralysis, and probably getting ready to transition into the dreamstate. You would have most likely had a WILD if you didn't try to open your eyes ;)
