Everyone loves taking pictures of their eye, so why not show them here. The great thing is every eye is different. Here's mine:

http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/9489/dscf0863bh3.jpg

For a while my eyes were really cool, because the pupils were different sizes. That was because I had to have eyedrops then, 12 a day. Not nice.

Burns, beautiful! The shapes are lovely and the colour is so nice.
Thanks! They kinda have a gold color around the pupil, and a dark blue around the rim of the iris. They used to change color when I was little - light blue on bright sunny days, to a dark blue to gray on overcast days. Sometimes they almost look green too. I would love to have green eyes!

I need a camera that can take a kickass picture like that... goddamn.
I have a Sony Cyber-shot 5.1 megapixel with super SteadyShot and 12X optical zoom. For my eye pic, I used the macro setting, with no zoom and no flash.

The yellow I have near the pupil mixes with the blue and makes my eyes green some days, like today :(

I'm not really sure what colour my eyes are since sometimes they look bright green or sometimes dull brown, etc. depending on the light and what I wear. So I just call them hazel-green. :D

I don't think makeup on guys would be that bad if they wanted to cover something up or enhance a certain feature, but I don't think would like it if they wore it like this:

Looks very deep blue, Alban :) Too bad the pic isn't clearer.

I think it's deep-blueness is down to the fact that I took it at night under a neon light in my bathroom - made my skin a bit blue as well.
I'm not the best of photographers.

Probably also explains the lack of clarity. I thought auto-flash and auto-focus and all that was meant to sort this stuff out for you.

I'm just curious to how some of you get such great eye shots, i have tried a few times with my camera yet it comes out blurry all the time and very dull, my bro has a really great camera and i could probably get him to take one but he is lazy, any suggestions?

Adam

You really need a macro option mate. Most DSLR's have it :)

Lucid Seeker
08-20-2007, 05:55 AM
My digital camera has a macro option however its the brightness of the shot that lets it down, i'll try now.

Adam
08-20-2007, 05:56 AM
Do you have an option to change any of the settings, like ISO or Aperature? If you have it on automatic it might not give you the best shot. Try taking the picture outside for some natural light

Lucid Seeker
08-20-2007, 05:58 AM
I just tried, but my digital camera is really crap, does high res pictures but it has not options to change the ISO or Aperature, they would only be on my bro's camera, tell you what i'll go and get my bro's camera and see what i can do.

EDIT: Ok i just got my Bro's camera and it takes good quality pictures but my eye is still blurry.

Adam
08-20-2007, 06:14 AM
It might be because you are focusing on your eyelash or something. If your brother has a good camera you wont need to hold it so close to your eye. Hold it further back and then just crop it in photoshop or what ever image program you use :)

Lucid Seeker
08-20-2007, 06:19 AM
Okay, i'll try that, so i could just take a picture of my face and then just cut it up?

EDIT: Grrrr, its taking the mick now, i get a high quality non-blur shot but i get loads of light in my eye so you can't see any detail of the eye itself, i'll keep trying!

Yeah thats what I mean. Take a shot of your face and just crop your eye, it should be big enough to post in here if the resolution is high enough :)

Lucid Seeker

I used the macro setting, no zoom, and no flash. I got near a window for a good natural light source, and steadied my elbow with the camera on the sill for stability. I took about 20 shots, and only that one turned out - most were blurry or off center. Just take a ton and one is bound to turn out sooner or later!

I think my eyes are naturally semi-bloodshot... (actually I hate allergies, I really do - if I rub my eyes just a little, they'll start itching a good bit). Usually by this time of year it's passed but it's still dragging on.

http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/8449/eyepi3.jpg

Can someone shine some light (or no light) on how to take a clear picture of your own eye.
Third try and all mine are blurry.

I have a desk lamp whose hood can be twisted around so that it shines upwards. For both of my eye pictures, I've pointed it up towards my face. I then stare in the general direction of the light bulb and take a macro shot while resting the camera on my cheekbone, pointing up at my eye. It helps a lot that my camera's screen can swivel around so I can see the screen while I take the shot, but with some luck and patience you should be able to get pretty good results.

The biggest problem when trying to get a clear shot is your eyelashes. They tend to draw the auto focus, making your iris and pupil look fuzzy. One solution is to open your eye REALLY wide, so your eyelashes won't draw the focus, and then relax back to normal before actually taking the shot. You could also just keep on trying until it happens to focus correctly, but this could be hard to do without seeing the screen.

If you have someone else around, back up so that your head is against a wall or window, and have them take the shot while resting the camera on your cheekbone. This should be easier, as they can aim the camera correctly. However, you will have less lighting and you'll still have the focus issue.

Good luck!

What I find fascinating about the eyes are how these are just sensory organs in our bodies that enable sight. We see out of these little blobs of jelly. It's incredible.

Marvo, I'd swear your eye on page 2 has a surreal loking hand in it...look at it closely...I am amzed...do you see that?

It's the reflection of my two hands holding my camera :)

Mes, your iris just looks like a solid uniform colour (except for those dark things flotting around), don't think I've ever seen that before...

What is this, a soap opera :eh:?

Everybody knows soap and eyes don't mix... and when you're at an opera, you can barely see the singers eyes clearly. They're just too far away.

So many people have lovely eyes here

The thing I like about eyes is that they're not subject to the same rules of attractiveness as the other body parts.

People appreciate eyes for their uniqueness.
Not always so the other bits.

Haven't looked at this thread in a while.
Nice to know there are DV members with brown eyes after all!

Lord toaster, your eye rocks. I think it really does look awesome, like there is a goldish orangish design on the inside of the iris and around the pupil...I'll put mine up in good time.
