I heard that calcium acts as a natural tranquilizer to the human body. So, for us hard sleepers, we might actually get to bed easier at night. A good friend of mine whose rather quite in tune with the mind mentioned this to me. Is this fact or fiction? Anyone try this?

Never heard of calcium being used for this. You may want to do some research and find out... or someone else in this forum might know. :)
I know that Melatonin is a natural hormone found in all living creatures that aids in sleeping. Some other substances that I know can help you fall asleep are Valerian Root, or 10 shots of vodka. :D

melatonin for some reason doesn't make me sleepy. I have the 3mg sustained release. I have read mixed things about it, like it blocks REM and you get rebound after you stop taking it, and another says it increases REM. Ive been experimenting with it lately and the REM rebound definitely seems to be effective. Had my first WILD 3 days after stopping a 9mg dose/night for 2 days.

Natural calcium pills actually do work (although, I would assume it would depend on your calcium level too. You don't want to overdose). I took two pills one time, and I felt so drained that I hadn't slept in atleast 24 hours, and I haven't felt like that for months. My mind is always jumping around. Anyone having trouble with sleeping fast, I recommend just getting calcium pills.

Valerian Root
They mentioned that in Fight Club when the narrator couldn't sleep in the beginning!
