Reading a similar topic in Meta Forum, here's the idea.

Each person who wishes to place themselves on the map copy and pastes the user above's map. They add their name to it and post it again. That way gradually it will build up to a more complete map (hopefully). You can be as accurate or not as you please.

Very good idea.

I'd insert myself if I was still in the UK.

Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the Eurasian land-mass so I'm a little "off the map" as they say.
