Okay, well I am just about to pack my bags, and get ready for my flight to Ireland! Never been before - only there for work purposes, but still any excuse.

Just want to know, since I don't know much about the place, is there anything I need to specifically try? Like any speciality foods or anything? Its all on work too, so doesn't matter about cost :D

This is where I shall be laying my head to rest: http://www.hilton.co.uk/templepatrick/

Anyway, aside from the Guinness, what else should I be trying? :D

I just got back from a work trip to Ireland. I can't be of much help, though, cause I stayed in Cork, which is on the south (while Templepatrick is on the north, just out of Belfast). It might be a little rainy when you're there. How long are you staying for, and how much time do you have for sightseeing? If they like you at the work thing, they'll take you out and get you wasted haha.

Unfortunately I am only there tonight, I fly back tomorrow :(

I have a meeting in the morning so have to come back, I would have liked to be out here longer. I will try get pictures, but really am only going to be out tonight for dinner and drinks so wont get to see many sights.

I will get a picture of me and a Guinness for you though :D

I am just at the airport waiting for my flight, which is in about an hour and a half.

I don't like flying :(

Hey, who wants a postcard? :D

You don`t like flying? Eee gads man,... Come see me if you ever visit the area, I`ll give you a bumpy flight in a small tin can, that ought to get the fear of big, smooth, comfy cigar tubes right out of ya :P...

Is it true they have leprachauns over there? I heard they appear after drinking a few pints...

Not that I've been there, but Ireland seems to me a boring and grim place. I only ever see pictures of desolate landscapes full of mud, grass and rain and too few trees. I met a nice Irish girl once, never got her name and never saw her again, but she agreed with me that Ireland is all mud and alcoholics.

And the accent is horrible. Almost as bad as Welsh. Actually, nowhere near, but, eh.

Hey, who wants a postcard? :D

You can bring me back a leprechaun and his pot o' gold.

On second thought.. screw the leprechaun.. just bring me the pot o' gold! ;)

Adam

I am so jealous right now. I've been to Ireland for four days before (plus four days in Scotland as a 21st Birthday present). I just love the history and "old-world" charm you can find there (mostly from the historic buildings and cathedrals and stuff). How I wish I lived in the Emerald Isles instead of bloody sun scorched SA with its "Africa" obssesed president (not Mandela mind you, he was cool and I wish he could have stayed on longer)

In a few weeks I will be there too, for two months ( and before that 3 days in England ). There I will make
the first step upon a journey, of which I will give more details soon.

Too bad it was such a quick trip...

By the way, was this in Ireland or Northern Ireland (I heard you were near Belfast...)?

Adam
10-16-2007, 10:48 AM
Northern Ireland - I was in Templepatrick at the Hotel and in Belfast city centre for my meeting. I am home now though :(

I am going to make sure I get a weekend trip there as soon as I find someone to go with! I want to enjoy Ireland rather than a whistle stop tour! might go to southern Ireland though.

Just need to find someone to take... Spart what you up to this weekend :P

Bah, that`s not fair, a plane ticket to Ireland costs a lot more for me than for people from the UK. Can`t we just meet up in the middle? You know, on a barge in the middle of the North Atlantic?

Because I will be there at that time ( November 7 to January 7 ). I will stay mostly at good friend's place in a village next to Lochrae, Co. Galway.
