We had that thread asking about any famous people here at Dreamviews and there weren't very many so I'll expand it. Anyone here have any famous ancestors or relatives?
I've always been told that I'm related to Woodrow Wilson and also the two Harrison presidents. (Wilson was my mom's grandma's grandfather; my mom's grandma was a Wilson and then the name changed when she married).
Edit: OK after looking around that might not be the right way it is but somehow my great-grandmother was related to him, possibly through marriage.

:D Well then you should know the answer!
I have to go with that since I don't have any more recent ones than 2000 (or maybe 3000) years ago.

Well I was thinking of maybe some more recent ancestors like maybe some from AD. Did I mention I'm related to Adam and Eve?

What a coincidence.

All I can think of is that my mother's side of the family used to be huge land owners in the Montreal area. They sold all the lands to the city somewhere at the beginning of the last century (there's a suburb that has their family name) and became EXTREMELY wealthy. Unfortunately, my grandmother (who was an only child) had a falling out with her parents, therefore she only received enough money to fully raise and educate 5 children hassle free, not leaving much in the way of an inheritance for me :P...
On a related note, has anyone ever heard of the "six degrees of seperation" thing?

I think the only ancestor of mine who was ever well-known by anyone was Ambrose R. Davenport (September 11, 1772—March 13, 1858), also known as the Yankee Rebel. Read about his life (http://www.yankeerebeltavern.com/whowashe.html), and how he got deported to Detroit, which is where my mom's side of the family is from. It was my mother's mother's side who still has the name Davenport. There is a tavern on Mackinaw Island named after him, The Yankee Rebel.
On my mother's father's side, my 5-great grandfather married an American Indian chief's daughter. But I don't remember what tribe now. My grandfather's side of the family continues to have a lot of american indian heritage and lines.

I'm related to Edgar Rice Burroughs on my mother's side, he's apparently a distant cousin. Her maiden name is Burroughs. On my dad's side, I think the best I can manage is a Scottish knight way back when, I want to say 14th century maybe. Can't remember his given name, but he was definitely a Blackwood.
Oh, and there was this guy named Noah...
okay, hope i spell goo here: on my mums side i have a maori (the new zealanders) who faught agains the british when they invaded new zealand in one place. his name is hone heke (im not sure about that spelling) and he cut down their flagpole lots and lots of times (i dunno, google it). he was also the first to sighn their treaty.
sooo... thats my story:D

One of my family lines has been traced to Governor William Bradford (of the Mayflower).
Another lines goes way back to Richard "Strongbow" de Clare.

Most of my recent-ish (1800's) ancestors came from England. One line comes from Norway.
My Mom also has found that we tie into a lot of Eastern European Royalty quite a ways back.

My great great grandfather on my father's side was a caucasion man that owned most of the land in Clinton, Mississippi, until most of it was sold later on...but hey my grandfather gave me 10 acres of land just for being his grandson so I'm not complaining ^_^
And on my mothers side my great great grandfather was a full-blooded Indian nicknamed "Old Red". He was very important back then but unfortunately none of my "antique" relatives know too much about his history.

My great (repeated 7 or 8 times) grandfather was John Finley. He explored Virginia/Kentucky and basicly was the first white man to discover the Cumberland gap, which the local Native Americans showed him. Which is a break in the Appalachian mountains. He then contacted a good old friend named Daniel Boone and directed him and a few others to and through it. His discovery helped forge a very useful trail to get through the mountains for many armies/hunters/trappers/settlers... A nice little role in American history.
Also, this is where my all time favorite movie takes place. Donnie Darko...

Too bad they never stayed in touch.... :(
I don't remember any names, but one of my distant relatives found a famous diamond mine here in the US, and my great-great-great-great grandmother (I think) was rescued off of the Trail of Tears, so I have some Cherokee in me.
