View Full Version : Theory For Dreamsigns And State Checking

I had an idea last night that works on a similar principle to the NovaDreamer. I was thinking about how the system works by flashing lights or making sounds to alert you that you're in a dream so that you can atain lucidity. Anyways, I've got one of those digital watches that beep at the top of every hour so I was thinking, if you set yourself to State Check evertime you heard your watch signal the hour in the waking world you'd become a lot more aware of the beeping. If you then wore the watch at night, there's a chance you'd notice the beeping in your dream alá the NovaDreamer. Then you could either become lucid through that knowledge alone or purely out of habit state-check and realise you're in a dream. Someone else has probably come up with this idea as well but I thought I'd share it in case it hasn't. I'm going to start doing this to see if it has any effect, I'll let you know what I find out. :-P

EDIT: Hmm, on second thoughts this post should be in the Attaining Lucidity forum, my bad.

that is an awesome idea blue! and i must admit it has occurred to me as well. I remember way back when that some people had a dig. watch that could chime every quarter hour, am i just remembering something that never was? I have searched for such a watch over the last few weeks, but no luck, wish i had one. Does anyone out there know if a watch with this feature exixts and is still for sale? Thanks..
that is actually a pretty common idea and a lot of people do it
good luck

I thought I'd had such an original idea as well. Either way it hasn't worked for me so far, I'm just not aware of the beeping enough, I've grown too used to it, I'm better at telling myself to look at my watch every hour and going by my internal clock to remind me.
