View Full Version : My steps to WILD

I started having WILD's years ago unintentionally (see my other post). Seems others are having trouble. If I follow these steps I will have a WILD just about every time.

-sleep for at least 4 hours
-wake up COMPLETELY and do something (like read, go on the computer) for at least one hour; your mind must be very active
-go back to sleep and relax and think about something enjoyable; keep your mind busy
-when you start to get drowsy again (if you're like me it takes a while) prepare for WILD
-get very comfortable and don't move; use earplugs so you can concentrate on your heartbeat and on the patterns on the back of your eyelids
-think about motion - roller coaster, driving a fast car - really try to feel it
-stay relaxed!!!
-you may hear sounds and see colourful patterns; stay relaxed - you're close
-your thoughts may waver, go back to the part about thinking about motion
-you will start to see textured patterns, feel like you are falling (right at the brink of sleep) and start to hear rushing sounds - do not fight the feeling
-if you managed to get this far you will now be in a lucid dream - if you are like me, usually you will be moving/flying and know you are dreaming or you will have a false awakening, so do a reality check
-I have had the other type of lucid dreams (DILD's) but I find WILD's are much easier to control once lucid

To those who awaken themselves - stay relaxed - remember you are supposed to fall asleep. The key is to snap back to your logical mind once you feel like falling and hear the rushing sound. Perhaps reminding/repeating this to yourself as you fall asleep will help. But remember the point is still to fall asleep but not your logical mind.

That's really good advice :goodjob2: , I'm gonna try that today since it's a Friday and I don't have to worry about school

I appreciate the advice. The toughest part about WILD for me is that I have such a difficult time falling asleep.

I want to know if this is related to WILD and does it happen to others.

I start doing some MILD.

Then I close my eyes and let my thoughts flow through my head.
I relax and lay in my bed wiht my eyes closed.
I start seeing images from my eyes and different type of things randomly.
Sometimes I also hear sounds too which is kinda freaky

Is this common to you guys and girls and what is it? Is it Hypnotic Imagery? And can this be used to do a WILD?

I've had a spontaneous experience like the following a couple of times.. dunno if it qualifies as a WILD. Basically, I'll be trying to go back to sleep again in the middle of the night and eventually lose consciousness for (what seems like) a fairly short time and then be jolted half-awake with my entire body vibrating. If I try to go back to sleep again, ignoring the vibrations, I'll be "pulled" into a lucid dream. What makes me wonder is the short lapse in my consciousness; are WILDs supposed to take you from your waking state directly into a dream or is it typical to experience a small gap in your awareness?

That would be a WILD since it is induced by sleep interruption but I have read that others can do it straight from a conscious waking state.

I have many WILDs - the way you have described it is how it normally happens with me. There is a short moment at the brink of sleep where you are not quite conscious but not quite fully asleep. You can go straight into a lucid dream at this point. As I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, this would happen to me unintentionally. I started to notice that it would happen when my mind was especially active. So after waking, you need to really wake up your logical mind by reading or something to get your brain going.

Maybe if I try to factor a few big numbers in my head during my nightly bathroom visit..... Hmmm.. could work.

... only you seeker =)

Harvey Very good advice :goodjob:
Some other things you can think about are, taking a walk in the woods, if your into martial arts, go though your kata and visualise it as if you are actually doing so, feel the movement of your muscles try to put as much detail into it as possible. I like to think about flying in my dragon form, but my stupid head jumps around so much I have a hard time focusing =/ Melatonin seems to help though.

This morning I was Soooooooooooo close!!!

My body was numb, I was experiencing the roller-coaster type of feelings. Hypno imagery was beginning to stabilize with me in it.

Then the #&$^ alarm clock went off!!!!!!

Maybe tonight :D

Every time your so close, something disturbes you, like the alarm clock, or your wife moving in bed, or something other than that!

i feel for ya, cause i suck at WILD also; but i havnt but as much dedicated effort into it as you.
