This technique should work or hopefully for anyone that would like to try it. The only name i have come up for it is White Room Affect (WRA).This is the Technique, find a comfortable place and lay down on your back, and hold an object that can fit in your hand. Close your eyes and imagine that you are staring at a completely snow white ceiling, every few minutes keep aware that there is an object in your hand and repeat this about 15 times. After a while the mind will lose all concentration on the object in your hand and the only thing in your mind will be the white ceiling, and when you try to concentrate on the object in your hand you won't feel it and then you will become aware that you are dreaming. From this point on you may turn the white ceiling into what ever you wish and lucid dream.

PS:You must be very tired for this to work
and it may take about a week. Practice every night.
Keep complete concentration on White ceiling.

About a week huh? I don't think I have the patience to try something like that for more than a couple of nights. I'd be interested if anyone produces results though. My only question would be, why the object? Why can't you just continually concentrate on a white ceiling?

The object is a signal that informs you that you are dreaming, once you notice you can not feel the object anymore then your mind will become aware that you have just fallen asleep.
You are basicaly entering your dream.

Ah okay, gotcha. That makes sense. Well, maybe i'll give it a try starting tonight. I'll see how I go.

Welcome to Dreamviews! Your first day and you're already posting a new technique! :goodjob2:

I think I'll try this - I haven't had a good lucid in a while. I'll report on how it goes. Also, I don't want to come across as nitpicking, but it would be White Room Effect. :)

Hey man, this is a great tutorial. I think I may have seen a technique similir to this called FAT (Focus Attension Technique) which involves gripping an object tight.

It's fantastic, I'm going to practice this, something to do isn't it? But I've got a question:

Do you mean tired as in, in the morning, or tired as in wanting to go to bed (not back to bed)? :undecided:

Great technique man, I'll be sure to start practicing tonight. I'll post the results up later.

I'm going to bed now - I'll try it. I think I'll use my cell phone as the object, because then it can wake me up for a WBTB too. :D

I'm sorry i was very tired when i wrote this and happened to type in affect instead of effect.

When i say tired i mean going to be tired. My advice is to force yourself to stay up untill you are very tired.

I'm going to start trying this when going to sleep; it seems to me that switching consciousness from internal (the white ceiling) to external (object in hand) is a good way to maintain lucidity as you fall asleep because our waking consciousness is largely tied to our physical body and environment.

the one problem with this that I can see is...

tell me why the object WOULND'T be in your hands if you eventually dream of this white ceiling?

sounds like a bad reality check...that simply you would dream and you would still have this object.

constructive criticism though; this wasnt an attack!

I'm guessing that your sense of touch would be somewhat, or more than somewhat decreased, but the object would still be in your hand.

This sounds really cool, I'll try it tonight. (morning)

I can't sleep on my back. Is there any other way for this to work?

try your side, shouldnt make a great deal of difference.

and Mman19,

The reason not 100% of dreams are Lucid is because we don't realise when 'touch' is decreased. Its such a subtle dream sign, I think maybe just trying to pass a finger through your hand would work better.

Or just turn this into a VILD...because its pretty close already eh?

Sleep paralysis - I don't think you would feel the object.

I tried this last night, but it didn't work. Then again I had lousy recall (1 short dream), I dropped the object sometime during sleep, and this is my first try. :)

Yes you can try it in any position that is comfortable for you. The reason why i said on your back is because most people on most relaxed in that position.

Would it work first - second time with WBTB?

that doesnt make sense, when i try to ld it gets to a point where i cannot feel my body at all and im well aware that im not lucid yet so dont think this will work with the object but might work for others

Maybe you missed my point....the way I see....

1. you go to sleep...whilst checking if you have the object.

2. you dream about what you were just doing.

3. but you notice that the object is gone.

Nothing to do with sleep paralysis...because you dream about what you were just doing. you are not 'feeling' the object for real. You are trying to feel it in the dream and noticing it is gone.

My question is...why would the object be gone?

Im not trying to poo-poo this technique...but as NO ONE has suceeded I just dont place my confidence in it; when their are plenty of other proven methods to practice until you perfect them.

If it works, congrats...but repetition is key. Id rather practice MILD or WILD, or Dream Yoga.
