A'hoy hoy,

Well now, let's see the logical reasoning of everyone here at Dream Views. I'm going to give you a scenario and you may ask me as many questions as you like. As a test to see how popular this gets (or if it even does), I will determine the limits and rules for the following riddles.

The point of these riddles is that they are very vague and I will not give much information at all from the initial scenario. The point being to learn more and develop a foundation from questioning. In other words, you will all be responsibile for finding more information through questioning.

Hope I made this clear... you'll understand quickly.

First, read the scene:

A man walks into a restaurant and sits down to a table. He orders a bowl of vegetable soup. After one sip of the soup, he pulls out a pistol and shoots himself in the head.[/b]

The question here you are trying to answer, of course, is why did he kill himself?

Let the interrogating begin.

Does it contain beef or any type of meat?

Yes, the soup's contents are:

Vegetable beef with barley - peas, beef, carrots, barley (and other spices) and another unique piece of meat; ostrich.

(Yes, answers can be twisted like that, that's the beauty of this type of reasoning is that logic makes you overlook minute details.. so be petty and maybe even ask questions which may seem redundant. )

Re-iterating it along as noting that there are spices within the soup.

Ok plain and simple - why did he shoot himself.

What is the man's nationality?

He was alergic to ostrich(or another one of the ingredients) but wanted to taste it desperately, even though it would kill him. He tasted it, felt the reaction beggining to occur, and decided to end it with his gun so he wouldn't suffer.......or not

this man had an ostrich farm and he had an ostrich named bobo. bobo was his favorite ostrich but one day when he was really hungry, he ate his right leg. Later he sold him to a slaughtering plant because looking at Bobo triggered an intense negative emotional feeling. The 23 year old man then went to a place and ordered soup, not knowing of it's ostrich contents. He realized that there was ostrich in the soup, and at the same moment he realized that the ostrich was Bobo. This triggered his intense emotional feeling, worse than dying, so he killed himself to end the feeling and any insanity that might follow before it began. How right am I?

Well I think I asked the ultimate question... Its obvious all the other stuff was to make us think in another direction, and make us all go on some elaborate question spree, while the most obvious question was just to ask WHY.... Yeah I got you figured out O'nus...... :P

Question for O'nus -

Has anything dramatic/life changing happened to him within the previous week of his suicide, if so what (or if it gives it a way nevermind)?

Was this guy depressed (like the medical condition).

Was he a stockbrocker (yeah... I don't know...)

Yes, there was recently a dramatic, life changing incident that happened to him. He was involved in a plane crash. (For more details, you must question. I'm being leniant making it not yes or no questions because of the length of the thread would become :P ).

He was certainly not happy already.. Not necessarily depressed, but certainly angst filled and in a state of denial/repression.

No, he was not a stockbroker.

He uh... he had the same sort of soup on the plane that crashed? He temporarily lost his memory, but then after tasting the soup had it all flood back into his head? And then he.. killed himself because of all the horrors he witnessed!!!

Well, I am going to say the contents of the food reminded him of the meat of a corpse, probably of a loved one. Entirely disgusted by the inciddent, it felt like he was eating his lover. Thus he shot himself.

Hmmm...when you said German, this reminded me of Hitler a little bit (read about it...you'll find that's exactly what he thought with his neice), so I posted this.

Time preriod???

If it's the future I would say he shot himself 'cause there is no more meat and tha's why he was forced to eat vegetable soup.

Be more specific.. how did the meat remind him of a corpse?

We can say it happened in "our time".

No he was not.

He would be quite the zealous vegetarian to commit suicide for "accidentally" eating meat though, wow, lol.

Were there any victims in that plane crash?

Was he the only survivor?

Did he own that gun?

Joseph_Stalin

The meat remided him of a corpse because the body was blown to pieces, roughly the same size as the ostrich meat in the soup. That, or the body went through the propeller blade.

Owch. Hate when I answer riddles and I am sooo close, but just a bit off. Then another person fills in the blanks :(

nothing was wrong with his soup.

Were there any victims in that plane crash? [/b]

yes

Was he the only survivor? [/b]

no

Did he own that gun?[/b]

sure, but it's not important to answering the riddle.

no, but you're very close. haven't you ever had a girlfriend who said "size doesn't matter?" well she was right, for this riddle the size of the meat chunks doesn't matter... it's something else

sorry for answering o'nus, i want to see them get it. :D

The plane crashed in the Alpes(or someother desolate place). There where only a few survivors and no food, so they had to eat the corpses!!! He tasted the soup and the ostrich tasted exactly like Justin(one of the guys he ate) so this was a catalyst to some very strong emotions which caused him to kill himself.

In case it helps, perhaps Justin was his life parter, so it made him even more depressed...

jacobo

you pretty much got it... but there's one part missing. his motive for killing himself is a little flimsy... he needs a better reason than that to off himself.

His life partner was an ostrich, and it passed away, and he had to eat it. :P

Well, it's obviously got something to do with an ostrich, methinks. Otherwise you wouldn't be saying it was ostrich soup, you'd be saying "soup".

Maybe he had looked after an ostrich all his life since a boy, he loved it and stuff, it loved him, then he was transporting it someplace, they crashed, he had to eat it.

One day he got hungry. Asked for the "soup of the day". It was ostrich soup, he didn't know that. Tried it- recognised taste. Shot self.

EDIT: Oh, fuck. Why the bloody hell did I get the idea it was ostrich soup from. o_O
EDIT EDIT: Oh, it was ostrich soup. :P
