View Full Version : Death bed

A book i was reading had a list of random quotes of what people said right before they died, and I'm curious. If you were on your death bed, surrounded by your loved ones, and you could only say one more thing before you died, what would it be?

As for a serious quote... meh, I'll think of one when I get there!

"Yippee Ky Yay, Mother****er."
Now that would be cool :D
Erm, i guess i'd say something like...
"The meaning of life is......" *dies before revealing*. I'd love to go out with a joke or what not, theres no point being completely morbid about the whole thing, life goes on!

Haha! So anti-climactic I love it.

Spike Milligan's Tombstone; "I told you I was ill" Can't be outdone.
I would probably say "Live long, happy lives. Because then I'll have more time alone in heaven before you losers turn up."

...or not, in your case. :D
But yeah, now I've made myself want a Die Hard avatar and signature set...
Another!
"Hey, how come I can see through my fingers?"
You're dead. We haven't much time.
"And you are...?"
An anthropomorphic personification.
"Ah. Hallo, Death. Got you some biscuits around here somewhere..."
Yes, I found them. They were quite good, thank you. Now, if you're quite finished staring at your fingers, we should go now.
"Where to?"
Where would you like to go?

But yeah, I don't know :P
I'd probably go along with something like "Uh oh" or "Instant fail". Some stupid internet meme :D

I heard of a book like that. There was a whole section devoted to funny quotes. One that springs to mind is, "Moose! Indian!"
"Remember me....whem I'm dead"
Hmm too depressing... :whyme: l'll think of something else..

I'd ramble on with a paragraph of meaningful, beautiful, insightful near-death words, then when I was about to come to the climax I'd sneeze then say I forgot what I was gonna say.

Yeah. I'd definitely try to say something funny and light-hearted. Whoever is going to be by my side grieving is really not going to need any more sad or tear-jerking quotes from me. Besides, I'd probably be feeling a rush about dying anyway... :P because one way or another, I'd be finding out who was right and who was wrong in the R/S forum.
Yeah seriously, I'd probably smile at everyone and crack jokes. Tell everyone I'm happy, act cheerful and stuff. :P

Seriously.. if my husband and son were at my bedside as I lay dying.. I'd probably try to crack jokes cuz that's just the way I am.
But as the end drew nearer, I'd probably tell them not to be scared.. that it doesn't hurt (hopefully that will be true). I'd also tell them that I love them and that I'm so proud of them.. proud of the man my husband is and proud of the man my son became.
Then I'd just ask them to hold me...

^^ That's very nice but way too depressing, don't ya think? :P You can ask them to hold you when you're not dying, and tell them how proud of them you are on a daily basis so you wouldn't need to do so on your death bed.
But anyway to each his own, and my plans might very well change when I'm actually there.

Why would you think I don't tell my husband and son that I'm proud of them? I don't tell them on a "daily" basis but I do tell them.
As for holding me when I'm not dying.. I'm a hugger (remember the "hug" thread). I hug my husband every day and, when my son is home from university, I hug him before going to bed at night.
I'm thinking the fact that I'm dying would be a tad depressing but I'd still want them to know that my final thoughts were of them.

.... I never said that! :P Never even thought it for a moment. I have no doubt that you would win the contest for most loving mother/wife in the world who makes sure that her loved ones know how important they are to her.
I just have a different opinion of what the ideal death bed situation would be.

Ok, sorry.. I misunderstood (I'm feeling a little crappy/sick right now). :(
I don't know about winning a contest but I do try to let those who are important to me know that they are.. simply because you never know what tomorrow may bring.

"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite. "

I remember when i had surgery and the doctor was putting me to sleep and he asked me to count to 10 and i never made it, i'm determined to prove him wrong and make it to 10. Lol, i'd do that when i am on my death bed.
"Now everyone, try and count to 10 before i die"
I really want to see death as another thing in life, not something that we should get depressed about. Its all cool with me, i want to live my life full, my only worry would be to die early and miss out on lifes opportunities.
