ive always found that WILDing did nothing for me. ive only once come close to what little could be excused as a WILD.

for me its always been about the DILDs. now maybe what theyre saying is true, that most of it is just luck. which if thats the case, im fucked.

i dont know what it is, but i just cant WILD. its not in me. no matter what technique i try or time of day or anything. ive been practicing lucid dreaming for almost a year. if WILD were a person id flip him off, and poor beer in his hair for being such a seclusive douche.

Yes, WILD is very elusive and difficult. I've personally found that the only way success with WILD is possible is by being completely still for a long enough period so that you enter SP and eventually a dream (the length of this "period" varies, depending on your proximity to REM, etc.).

I recommend reading Jeff's tutorial on tricking your body into thinking your mind is asleep. This is really the trick. Once your body believes your mind is asleep, it will itself "fall asleep". Not long after that, you will enter a lucid dream (either via hypnogogic imagery or moving your dream body). I recommend that you keep trying, because it will honestly be worth the attempt.

PS—When I say "completely still", I really mean it. You can't even move your eyes under your eyelids, or swallow. Doing this will only lengthen the process. Basically, you need to trick your body into thinking your mind is unconscious. Think of it like this: If your mind really WERE unconscious, you wouldn't be swallowing or moving your eyes voluntarily. The key is to literally "play dead".

Me too man. I've been trying for 2 months, and I have one thing I considered a WILD, but it was actually just a dream where I successfully WILDed. In real life, I can't even get into SP. I've tried playing dead, but I almost always have to at least swallow. But even if I don't, I find that if I try to keep my mind as aware as it is when I'm in a DILD, I can't fall asleep.

I wonder, when playing dead, is it okay to think about your body? I can't imagine why not, since it's the stillness that's doing the tricking of your body, not your mind like in the counting technique.

I have had a tiny bit of luck these past two days with trying to send a signal to my hands to move, but not physically allowing them to move while doing the playing dead technique. It feels like I'm made of lead, but I did feel them move a little bit, though they were still flat beside me. They also felt tingly, and my body felt floaty. Maybe I'm making progress. If not, I'm ready to say screw it with WILDs and just try anything else.
