Hello all! I'm new to this site, it's quite wonderful I found it. I have many questions about a new found ability of mine. Now I would like to know if anyone here shares the same ability of seeing colours. If so please get back to me on how and when you see them. I would really like to get to know more. But I would rather hear it from someone who has expierinced this.
It's greatly appreciated thank you. :)

Lavander and Grod, I am not really sure what you are talking about.

Could you explain it a bit more please?

When I close my eyes and consintrate on one thing, whether it be a person or object.. swirls of a colour.. and only ever a single colour come to me. Sometimes it's a flash in a dream of a color as well. Or the colour will be represented in some form in a dream..

Sounds like a form of Synaesthesia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synaesthesia).

I wouldn't go around saying that you have Synaesthesia though because self-made internet diagnosis' are notoriously inaccurate. I'm just saying it's a possibility.

Whew, for a moment there I was sure this was a joke topic by . . . well, the sort of person that would make such a joke.

Are you saying I'm making this up?

Lavender, no one is saying you are making it up. It's just odd the way you phrased it because everyone who isn't color blind can see colors. But after reading your second post, I think what you're just seeing is typical "behind the eyelids" crazy color swirls and such? And the bright flashes of color sound like hypnagogic imagery to me, which is extremely colorful.

Perhaps you have a talent for seeing and sensing people's auras. Have you read about aura reading at all, or tried it? I've been interested in learning for awhile now. Also, welcome to the forum.

Synesthesia is when sensory input of one kind is associated with perception of another - so in order for this to be synesthesia, you would have to see color when you hear a note or read a letter, etc. and not just if you think about things.

I'm pretty sure that every human being with intact sight can see colors, as even the rods are somewhat responsive to the blue-green area of the spectrum. Color-blind people do see colors, they are just unable to differentiate between two or more of them.

The lights and swirly patterns you see when you put pressure on your eyeballs or get up too fast are called phosphenes, and they're perfectly normal. They result from mechanical stimulation of the photosensitive cells on your retina, causing false messages to be sent.

No, not at all, it's just that at first read, it sounded like you were simply stating the obvious, as to make a joke, as certain other members have been known to do in the past, For the Lulz. I saw in further posts, though, that this was not the case. :)

I know what you mean. (about the colours synaesthetic thing)

Say, you think of a number and a colour appears in your mind.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0

The alphabet is the same too. I see:

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Note, though, those colours I've chosen aren't exactly how I see them in my mind.

Also, whats aura reading exactly?

Is it like when you actually see a colour when someone talks about a certain person or when you think of that person?

Sounds interesting.

And the yelid thingy happens to me all the time too, lol. I love doing, it actually helps me get to sleep sometimes.

Whenever I close my eyes for long times, i see colors, like the afterimage and stuff swirling and crap. it's just the extra junk in your eyes, i think. It's relaxing and sickly awesome.

Stop making fun of her, she has a condition where she sees colors and you are being insensitive.

So, are you saying you don't normally see colors with your eyes, like everyday life, but now you can occasionally see them when you close your eyes?

What? How would they know what colors were, then? :wtf:
