View Full Version : NovaDreamer in combination with DEILD?

Could this be the answer to having quick, easy WILDs induced at will?

I had a sort-of revelation last night about using the NovaDreamer product in combo with DEILD to help us induce WILDs at will with a high success rate.

What if we took the existing NovaDreamer (http://www.lucidity.com/novadreamer.html) (which works by recognizing when you're in REM sleep), and set the sound loud enough to awaken you? Instead of it inducing DILDs with the lights, we could tweak it to be able to induce WILDs with the help of the Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream (DEILD) method.

How would it work? Well, it's rather simple:

1. The NovaDreamer product would determine that you are in REM sleep. (Something it already does, but it's usually directed at DILDing)

2. It would awaken you with a loud alarm-like sound.

3. You would then, being fully conscious, immediately initiate the DEILD method (i.e. stay completely still, without opening your eyes) and have a strong likelihood of entering back into a dreamscene/Sleep paralysis without much effort within seconds. In otherwords, you would have a WILD.

The only potential problem would be this: Although the DEILD method generally has a very high success rate, will it still work if the NovaDreamer wakes you up at any point during REM? Will it necessarily be waking you up during a normal dream's progress? And would that even matter as long as it wakes you up during REM? Maybe DEILD should be renamed REMEILD (REM-exit induced lucid dream). Maybe some of you sleep experts could enlighten us on this subject.

I just think it would really help all of the people struggling with the "Attaining Lucidity" phase, and it would really help everyone avoid the tedious and long "normal" WILD process of doing a WBTB and going back to sleep once having been awake at least 5 minutes.

*Sighs*, so yeah! That's it! That's my vent for today! What does everyone think of an idea like this?

It's very interesting, I think you should at least contact someone about this. And about your potential problem, I don't think it will matter TOO much, maybe a little.

This sounds like a great idea! I'd make sure to have an adjustable volume, though, to help avoid the problem you mentioned.

And even if you couldn't re-enter REM the first few times, all that lost REM will eventually add up and you'll enter a pretty looong dream later on.

CrazyInSane, I own the current NovaDreamer and it already has settings that allow you to use lights and/or beeps. You can adjust the intensity of the lights and/or the loudness of the beeps so you could set it to wake you up when you're in REM if you wanted.

Ah, really, well that's great news. Have you ever tried this in combination with the DEILD method?

Sorry for the late reply..

The NovaDreamer helped me to have DILDS so I never used it to "wake me up" so that I could then try for a WILD.
