Hey everybody, any of you guys meditate? and how? how long?
does it relax you? etc... just describe your experiences with it if you wish.
For me, I meditate in many ways
Laying down for bed
Sitting in a chair at work
Sitting indian leg style with arms stretched forward
for me I usually have 10-20 minute meditations, makes me so relaxed
I also get a little light-headed and I almost feel HIGH after meditating
anyone ever meditate for an extremely long period of time?
I just can't seem to find enough free-time aside from the weekends to meditate for longer then 35 minutes.
Usually by the time the 30 minute mark comes along i feel so relaxed I could just goto sleep.
also I have a question, does thinking about lucidity while meditating for sleep help induce lucids?

Yes.
I meditate either laying down or in full lotus. I do it whenever I'm really stressed or just want to chase something out of my mind.

I meditate sometimes but I'm constantly listening to music or the radio in bed so I don't really like silence too much. If I'm really stressed sometimes I'll stop and meditate and I do get that almost lightheaded feeling. I get my relaxation mostly from laying in bed in deeper brain waves listening to talkshows, music, whatever, and thinking.

The human mind is such an extraordinary thing, just 24 hours ago i was completely angry tense nervous and rageful, today im at peace, calm i feel great,
weird eh? well i did ALOT of meditation when i got home yesterday and that really soothed my mind, like a cough drop soothing a throat. :D
I love meditation it gives me a sense of warmth and like a 'at home' feeling i can't explain.
It kinda take away pain for me also and makes me feel slightly intoxicated, maybe its the burst of oxygen?
all i know is that im so blessed with the gift of meditation and i wanna hear everyone elses meditation techniques and uses and whatnot..

I Can't stand when I mention meditation, and people automatically go into immaturity mode and say
"what do you do? sit like an indian and yell OHHHMMMMMM?"
Then they laugh, because they obviously do not comprehend the benefits or uses of meditation, then they carry on their ignorant lives oblivious to the wonders the human body can create with its own will power.
ahh people......

The length of time spent meditating is not as nearly as important as doing it consistently at the same times every day (for the full benefits anyway). 5 minutes a day every day at 8 am will do you much better than 30 minutes or an hour every once in a while when you feel like it.

Yeah because everyone is exactly the same as you.

Well as a general principle doing something a little everyday works better than doing alot only once in a while.
I meditate daily, at least ten minutes before I sleep. I just keep aware of my breathing, and allow everything else to fade away (I say 'allow' becuase you cannot force or forget).
Occasionally, I'll meditate in front of my fish tank. This I can do with my eyes open. If my eyes are open, I can become a fish. If my eyes are closed, I travel some place with purity and water. Whatever happens, it's a byproduct of concentrating on water.

Unfortunately that statement contradicts itself.
i can't do full lotus, but i meditate sometimes. i also get the high feeling, sometimes even flashing light below the eyelids. i don't know what that is or how i do get it there anyway.

Id be interested in reading that too if you find the link :)
ok, here we go.
calm down before doing this one. do a little bit of some kind of calming meditation before doing this for example.
1. Sit up in a comfortable position.
2. Breath in slowly and count to six, or as long as you can breath in but do it slowly so you don't get the lungs filled to fast. hold your breath for six seconds and then breath out for six seconds.
Do this until you feel totally relaxed. you should be in some kind of state now where you can't feel the body anymore.
3. Imagine Climbing down a ladder in the dark. keep breathing as above, but when you exhale imagine that you walk down 2 steps on the ladder, and when you breath in you're just hold on to the ladder. after doing this fore awhile imagine falling backward from the ladder.
At this point you might enter some kind of trance state. If you didn't keep breathing and climbing the ladder and then try to fall of the ladder again until you're in the trance state.

I'm a little confused... not about the guide but just meditation in general. I always thought you're supposed to clear your mind and try not to think of anything, but people always say how they imagine that they're somewhere or doing something (envisioning a calming scene like walking on the beach or something similar). Are these the same thing or what..?

I'd say I meditate irregularly throughout the day, whenever I'm bored or whatever. Been doing this for quite a length of time. Feels relaxing and helps me develop my mind ^^

Ha Valis sorry for not replying, I didn't really read through all the replies xD Blame me.
Meditation has many forms. Usually people will think of meditation as not thinking of anything, but that is not true.
Look at your hands. If you focus on every detail of it actively, you'll be concentrating. If you only relax and watch it passively, you'll be meditating.
