Ok, I'm usually pretty good at interpreting my own dreams, but this one just baffles me. It's the only nightmare I've had in years, which is also odd because usually even things that look frightening in dreams don't scare me. This one however, makes my neck hair pricle just thinking about it.
It begins with a military beach landing (think the first scene in Saving Private Ryan). Guns and bombs are going off all over. My point of view is in third person (also odd for me) following a single soldier (not me) like a camera. Suddenly there is a burst of machine gun fire and he is knocked down, his stomach ripped open. His intestines are hanging out but as I look I realize that they aren't intestines, but two tapering rootlike things that wriggle like worms with a mind of their own. The "camera" I am watching the scene thorugh now moves up and I see the same thing is happeing to any soldier who gets killed, suddenly the intestines/roots begin to grow in length and diameter until they are about a foot across each and perhaps 15 feet long, the soldiers are all still alive and are sceaming like nothing I've ever heard, begging for mecry etc. The root type things probe the air, as if looking for something, then turn down and begin to dig into the ground, carrying the soldiers, still screaming, with them into their holes (breaking the mens backs in half backwards as well, the holes are too small). Then I wake up.
