Is there another way to improve your dream recall besides writing in your journal? To be honest I got tired of writing down every single detail of my dream that I remembered even using a computer. After a while I stopped writing down my dreams only because school started and I don't really have a lot of time to write it down during the day. If writing my dreams down is the ONLY way to improve this, then I will eventually resort back to writin it down and try to make time for it. :?
BTW is there a method that will help me to actually remember my dreams like maybe setting the alarm clock at an earlier time than I would wake up?
I go to sleep around 10-11:30 and wake up at 6:00 AM. Would waking up 4 and then going back to sleep help me remember the dreams? Thanks in advance

yes nightowl, most definately. Set your alarm for 4:00, then set it for another hour after you ake up, this will almost gaurantee better dream recall, as longer REM periods occur after the majority of your sleep period has elapsed. Using a dream journal seems the only real way to ensure dream recall, unless you have a super amazing memory, cause usually the day to day details of your waking life will cause you to forget what you dreamed last nite 'less you write it down shortly after.

Don't forget to write those ones down before you go back to bed. One dream always seems to erase the other, no matter how sure you are that you will remember.
I'm lazy with the journal thing too, but it really helps. It's sort of subliminal, I think. It embeds the idea that dreams are important.

I've always woke up on my own too...
I'm not sure what to tell you, nightowl. Recording doesn't necessarily increase recall...for me I just do it because I enjoy writing, and perhaps this enjoyment I get out of being enthusiastic about it is actually what helps recall dreams. :|

you lucky bastards, i used to automatically wake up at certain times...hmmm, in fact i used to have this friend who used to say that he would tell himself like a certain time before he went to bed...say 7 AM, and he would wake up right around that time...
i need a map of your head, translated into english, so i can learn to not make you frown[/b]

well, i never write down my dreams...why? It's cool that they're lucid and all, but seriously, the details are not important. It's like watching a magic trick, an illusion, and then trying to recall the flashy spectacal, it really has nothing to do with the true substance or meaning of the dream.
instead of writing them down, i just train my mind. might as well, it's just as important. just give yourself suggestions before you go beddy-bye.
meditate on what you want to do, do it consistanly, not for just a couple of nights, try a month, really just try and do it from now on for the rest of your life, and you'll teach yourself to remember, believe in yourself.
med med med med focus on the nothing, remember your goal but never desire it it will all come naturally :alien:

I think if you just kinda recreate the dream in your mind it will do. The journal is a great way to start for a while, but for me, all I need now it to think about and remember the dream sequence by sequence.
Putting my dreams in parts usually helps me remember the other parts and of other dreams too. I do it as soon as I wake from one and if I have the time, close my eyes and try to continue it.

a dream journal is just to train your mind. but i will keep on using one, because i dont think my brain will ever have perfect recall.
