View Full Version : yay for bananas!

On two seperate occasions, I woke up to do WBTB and was hungry. So I went downstairs to my kitchen to get something, and, wanting something quick and easy that wouldn't make any noise to wake anyone up, I just grabbed a banana.
It wasn't until just recently that I realized that on both nights, I had had a lucid dream after doing so. So I decided to try it again, and, what do you know?! I had an LD!! :boogie: I guess this is because bananas have a lot of B6 in them.
This is a good alternative to a supplement for me because I'm just a kid in high school with parents that have no respect or understanding for lucid dreaming and no drivers license, therefore no means of obtaining a supplement. I'm not sure if it might just be a coincidence because I've only done it 3 times, but still. I'm glad I found something that might actually work for me!

That's cool. How did you become lucid, WILD or DILD?

I have a banana every night before I go to bed and unfortunately I am still trying to have my first lucid dream; but if it works for you great! I think I'll try eating a banana later in the night like you did.

if you ever want to give children a treat get a banana and a needle and shove the needle in at the corners of the banana and rotate it side to side to make a slice and keep doing it every half-inch down the banana. say "have a banana!" the child will peel the skin and the slices will fall to the floor. the child will go "oh, look!" casually turn round and calmly say "what?" child explains banana was sliced and you say "rubbish! dont be silly" lol! they'll spend the rest of the day trying to convince you.
WARNING: only works on smaller children

I like immaterium's idea about slicing the banana.

You know, I have purposefully eaten bananas during WBTB to help with lucidity. Now that I think about it, it has worked every time. If its just placebo, it sure is a delicious one!
Bananas have both B6 and tryptophan. Both are supposedly needed for the B6 thing to work. I'm not a huge fan of the B6 overdose-nerve-damaging theory, but a banana a day seems healthy.
The only thing I hate is the feeling of going back to bed with dirty teeth. Especially sugary, powdery banana teeth. I'm real paranoid about oral hygene.

yeah, that's actually what I ended up doing. It was driving me nuts trying to fall back asleep with the taste still in my mouth.

It may be worth liquidising the banana, as a 'smoothy' (as we call them in the good old UK) might give a quicker 'hit' due to the stomach not having to break it down. You would need to keep it refrigerated ready for drinking when you wake up in the night.
I would be interested to hear if this works for anyone.
I will being trying this tonight.

Yea, especially with braces. Braces suck, but they are for the better so I just have to deal with them.

Well, just for the record, I tried the banana liquidised with some milk, which I prepared during the evening and kept chilled. I woke up at 3am and drank the 'potion'.
Unfortunately, absolutely no effects for me. My usual reasonably good non-lucid dream recall.
Ah well, Back to the drawing board............

That's cool. How did you become lucid, WILD or DILD?
sorry it took so long to answer your question! i guess i missed it. anyway, it was kind of both. I tried WILD, but failed, although I think the fact that I at least had my mind on something LD-related before falling asleep helped contribute to my DILD. That's usually how it goes for me. My mind always wanders no matter how hard I try to ignore the thoughts.

Bananas never worked out for me, LD at least. With Bananas, B6 200, and some chedder i have been able to get some good recall. BUT, after i took Melatonin maybe 6 nights in a row, i stopped having ALL dream recall. Stopped everything for about 5 days and it was back to normal.

I did a WBTB with a Banana and very little other effort on saturday night. Worked like a charm.
Bananas are loaded with both B6 and Tryptophane. Tryptophane is an important precurser to melatonin and serotonin which regulate sleep and wakefullness.
Next time you do WBTB and go for some food try eating some bananas, pistachios and Cashew nuts and drink some Milk as milk is also full of tryptophane.
