What a Mes - Issue #1
Also Featuring: Xox, Suttsman
Description: I'm sure many of you have seen or heard of those popular "Ask Betty" columns in newspapers where the column writer answers a variety of readers' questions. Well, this is the DV Newsletter version of precisely that! Each issue will have yours truly (Mes Tarrant) as well as two additional Newsletter staff members answering questions. These will be different per issue. Issue #1 will include Xox and Suttsman as question answerers.
How you can participate: Have a question you'd like answered? PM it to me. Have more than a single question? PM them all! :D Please do send them only to me, as that will keep them all organized in one place.
Types of questions: These questions can be about absolutely anything. They can be funny, they can be serious. They can be about life, the forum, sex, school, sex sex, and the list goes on and on. You can ask for advice, an opinion, anything at all! It can also be a question specific to one or all of the "What a Mes" staffers. Submission of a question is not an automatic guarantee of it being published - factors like number of questions and content of course need to be considered. :)
Confidentiality: Questioners can remain anonymous if they wish. If you do not want your username published alongside your question, just say the word and I guarantee to abide by your requests. If you want a name published other than your username OR "anonymous," you can make one up, like "Forlorn in Florida" or "James," etc. If you want to take it one step further and remain anonymous even in your PM to me, you can do that too. All you have to do is use the same annonymous account as described in the sticky under the Help forum (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=40991). If you don't mention anything about confidentiality, I will assume that you don't mind us publishing your username.
Alright, let's get this thing moving. Please, do not post any questions in this thread - PMs only! :D If you'd like to discuss anything else in regard to this particular column, then please do so here.

:ohyahbaby: You know me!
But no, it can really be about anything, and a variety of questions is really good. People can send as many as they want, as often as they want... :D

Hmm, I don't know if I should ask a question about sex, or sex sex.
Hmm, I don't know if I should ask a question about sex, or sex sex.
I say sex.
It will make the column interesting. :D
But oh yes, there should be variety.

You have to send me a cookie if it's about sex as opposed to sex sex.
All jokes aside, any types of questions are welcome. We are hoping for a mixture of serious and silly ones covering a wide range of topics.

What about :tonguewiggle: and sex as opposed to sex sex.
 Wow, that was vulgar :?

Aww, you mean I've been sitting at this table with fork and knife in hand, staring at this empty plate for the past few hours for nothing?

First of all, very well put together post, Mes! Now, a suggestion: Why not have the submitting questioners sign the PM as they wish their name to appear in the newsletter? For instance, a sample PM could be:
I've seen you called "Cookie," or, "Cookies" in the Lounge before. How did you get this nickname, and what does it mean?
--Querulous in Quebec
And the question would be included in the newsletter exactly as sent, edited only for any spelling or grammar mistakes of course. I'm thinking of how it's usually done in magazines and such. Alternatively, the answerer could come up with the name based on the questioner's location and nature of the question.
I'll do it. Go ahead and dare me.
I dare you.

MoS, so you're saying that members could not only sign the PM as anonymous vs. their username, but also as something completely different?
And yes, there shalt be no editing of questions! :)

Well, if they wanted their username attached to it, they could sign it as such. This would essentially be a more professional method of anonymity. A way to distinguish between anonymous queries, which I'm sure will be plentiful. Instead of having seven questions signed, "--Anonymous" there would be seven questions signed with various witty and descriptive yet unequivocally anonymous names. "--Despairing in Detroit," "--Furious in Fuji, "--Dirty Old Man", "--Wandering Soul" etc..
The location doesn't necessarily need to be there, it's just an example.

Ohhhh I see! :D That's a good idea. I'll edit my post pronto.
Edit: Wait, brain fart. Do you have a suggestion as to how to edit that section of the post to include this information?

Let's see...
Confidentiality: Questioners can remain anonymous if they wish. If you do not want your username published alongside your question, just say the word and I guarantee to abide by your requests. Alternatively, you may either sign your PMed question with the name you wish to appear, or make a note that you would like the answerer to come up with an appropriate (anonymous) name. For instance, you could sign your PM (for example) "--Forlorn in Florida," and this is the name your question would appear under in the Newsletter. If you want to take it one step further and remain anonymous even in your PM to me, you can do that too. All you have to do is use the same anonymous account as described in the sticky under the Help forum (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=40991). Okie I'll update in a jiffy!
Edit: Eek, can no longer update it myself. Ummm... Wavefunction?? :D Could you possibly replace the paragraph about confidentiality with the following?

It's the same thing with just an added sentence in the middle.

It's monthly, so most likely at the end of the month. This first issue will be the test of how fast we can produce one.

04-08-2008, 04:25 PM
Yep. We're anticipating on it being very big.. but we're still in the process of figuring out what types of things to include on a regular basis. As for staff, well... we'll know that after the first issue as well! :P

Plus, I absolutely nuked Mes with questions (thirty-something to be exact) so there's no shortage there.
I can't wait, mah frend!
Obviously all of them won't be answered, just for the record. I'm sure Mes stated this.
