You were never comfortable talking about your age so a few of us figured that out awhile back. Of course it wasn't 100% confirmed until now.

Welcome to 15-dom. ^______

When was I uncomfortable about talking about my age?

According to you people, I am:

- 15
- 18
- 35
- 78
- 21

Depends on who you are and when I talked to you, coupled with my mood at the time.

Well yea.

Were you expecting me to tell you I was 14 and get banned for a year?

Of course not. But, after all that time of our letting your antics slide with nothing but hand-slaps, I'd feel justified in retro-acting your account and banning you for a while, for taking advantage of our leniency, knowing that you should have been banned a long time ago.

Fortunately for you, though, I'm not a dick. :chuckle:

Happy Birthday.

When I signed up, the message that you had to be fifteen had gone away. Yet now it's back. Why did it go?

I think Asher changed it when he bought the forum, and then it was changed back later. I joined at the same time as you did, and now that you mention it, I don't remember it being there. :?

Does that mean if you were under 15 at that time you could join legally?

The age limit notice has been adjusted a couple times since I've been here. It's been 15 for a while now, but recently we made it bold and increased the box size so it's harder to miss.

Y'know, back when I joined I could've sworn the required age was 13. Am I just slowly going crazy, or was it bumped up to 15 sometime after you bought the place?

When I joined there was no age limit :( (I joined when I was about 12). Then the age limit was 12, now 15. I found all age limits awful and alienating. All it REALLY does is have all the underage kids join the forum, but weed out all the honest ones. So now instead of having a bunch of open-minded polite 12 year olds, we have a bunch of dishonest, snotty-nosed, annoying ones. But at any rate, we should treat people on an individual basis. I hate all sorts of ageism. If someone is mature enough to post, or even a little goofy (for one, you should see some of the shenanigans that the older members do. not to mention when I was 12 I was crazy all the time, but no one really cared), they should be allowed to without being banned immediately. It just seems so wrong to me.

I think if we have an age limit it should free us up to have more adult (and therefore more better) material on the forum. A loose policy on language, for example, or on more 'adult' humour.

I think the age limit is justifiable in that in exchange we get a looser approach to swearing and the like.

wasup

That is a good point, too. I mean, like, if there were no age limit perhaps there should be a more conserative policy on swearing (though it's still the internet, so I don't think so really), but considering we have an age limit, we should do things like not ban people for saying "Fuck you." Swear words are adult words that adults use to express adult emotions.

OK. We'll let that one slide. :)

The age limit does allow for threads which are more suggestive or adult natured than one would want 12-year-olds participating in. If folks want to discuss the age issue more you can open a thread in the "Meta", though I think there has already been significant discussion there.
