View Full Version : Nostalgia?

I've been really nostalgic recently (recently as in the past few years). Everything back then had a certain "quality" to it that I can't describe. Whenever I wake up from a dream in the morning, it has had that quality. I spend near the next hour just thinking about it (while doing other stuff). It's also kinda weird, some smells make remember. Also, whenever I hear the music from the old N64 video games that I played when I was younger (Banjo Kazooie especially, but also Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda, etc), I have an extreme urge to go back to that. Back then, everything was unknown and everything could be discovered. Now I feel bored a lot of the time. I would do anything to go back to then. Sorry if this a little run-on, I just wanted to share this.

Man, I know what you mean. I am obsessed with nostalgia, especially for my early childhood. It is so fascinating, it really gives life meaning, and it can sometimes be so strong it is like a deep religious experience.

Nostalgia is great, because it lets you go back to a time you miss.

Childhood nostalgia is great because you had no responsibility, not a care in the world. I love it.

Get a digital camera--they allow you to remenisce immediately :D (ty Dimitri Martin).

Seriously though, if you want the mystery back, just let go of all the ideas about the world you use to define yourself. If you're using any concepts at all, then you have no idea what's going on here (see my sig).

Get nostalgic about right now--"it makes much more sense to live in the present tense."

The good things about digital cameras is they allow you to reminesce immediatley. *takes photo* *in awe* "Look at us. We were so young. Where does the minute go?"

Nostalgia happens to me when my lifes getting complicated, i get "time sick" and wanna go back to the 90s when my biggest concern was how many more times is my brother gonna make me play sonic the hedgehog, and how many days til the summer holidays. back in the day when the most hi tech thing i owned was a clapped out amstrad, and how cool i thought it was. Its not a craving of items i had, its a craving for the comfort and simplicity i felt.

DONKEY KONG ROCKED!

Donkey Kong? Huh?

You mean Donkey Kong on Super Nintendo, or Donkey Kong on the Nintendo 64? I'm pretty sure you don't mean the original Donkey Kong, cause that came out in the early 80's if I'm not mistaken.

Banjo Kazooie? Quality game.

Uh, yeah! Go Banjo! It was quality up untill the freaking Rusty Bucket Bay, which is the biggest smack in the nuts. If I had a dime for everytime I tried to get through those rotating propellers, and got hit, I'd be Bill Gates.

*raises hand*

I played the original in the arcade when it first came out. I also dropped a few quarters on Pong at a pizza place back in the 70s. And don't forget Space Invaders! Rock on!

Your sense of nostalgia will only grow as you get older.

Hehe, I remember the Pong home console--it was as large as a medium size dog, with a knob at each end for the two players :D

I remember the first console I had that was mine, and didn't have to go to someone's house to play.

I didn't sleep for 3 days, just playing my first solo game.
Sukoden

Soon came Sukoden 2

And then...the flood of ps2. xbox. xbox 360. ps3.

And of course, the beloved pc. Untouchably the best.

I think games really change people. My first rpg leaves memories of pure enjoyment. A bliss that I don't find in the world nowadays.
