Tell me if i should get a haircut (need some quick answers)

Well i have had long hair for a couple of years now. I don't think that it looks particulary good myself.
I have this fear of getting a haircut, as the last many times i got that, it has ended up really, really bad.
I am really bad at this kind of decisions, and therefore i really need some advice. Would it be a mistale for me to get completly short hair?
The thing is, that tomorow we have this big party at my school (i think it about equal to what you americans call prom night ... you know? fancy clothing and limousines and stuff like that). I thought that this would be a fun occasion to get it done. Especially as the girl im comming with has been joking about that i should be the on wearing the dress as i have longer hair than her:D
Bad thing: I have to decide within the next 6 hours, as my last chance of a haircut is tommorow morning:(

Well your hair is longer than mine and people are bugging me to get it done, so I'd say say get it cut. Think you'd look good with short hair.

Hair that long is labeling you as a dork at this moment, in all honesty. :P

I would definitely get it cut, and definitely above the shoulders. Maybe keep it long enough to let it frame your face and fall over your ears a bit... But yeah, definitely cut it. Most girls can't even pull off hair that long (although every girl with long hair thinks she can :roll: ). Think about how weird it would look if it starts thinning, too.

Maybe your problem with bad hair cuts in the past is your choice of hair stylist. Pay a bit of extra money and go somewhere that you know to be very professional.

And I agree with Mes, go somewhere good (not like Fantastic Sam's or BoRics or something) and get a good cut and style. The extra money will be worth it. Then if you like it, you can go to a cheaper place for trims in the future.

Haha, reminds me when I went to some shit guy in a place called "Stuarts", which was creepy. He was scarcely happy for an old man. And whilst I was sitting there with my mother (yes, she forced me to go there, along with my dad, the fucker), this creepy Muslim dude came in and stared at the man having a hair cut. But the look he gave him was like "I'm going to kill you, along with your dead mother".

But yeah, when I came out, my hair was CRAP and I looked like a girl.

But that was ages ago, a pro called Steve cut my hair last.

Thanks for the honest answers, i can't really say that i disagree with any of you.
However i just realised that im going to a concert thursday with a dansih copy-band called Pink Floyd Project. It would be kinda stupid to get that haircut the day before a Pink Floyd-related concert :lol:
I think im gonna take a couple of days to think it through (as i said, im really bad at these decisions). Also, i propably couldn't get an appointment at a good hair dresser at such short notice.
A lot of my friends also says that i should keep my hair long. But i porbably ain't going to listen to them:)

Pink Floyd was great when we saw them with Rogers Waters a couple years ago. They played the entire Dark Side of the Moon album in order and had a really awesome stage set-up. I was hopped up on painkillers since I had accidentally slashed my wrist the day before. It's would've been trippy enough without the meds though, lol

But yeah, make an appointment with a good stylist (usually you can get in within a week or two), go to the concert, and then chop it off!!

I had long hair up until about 1980. My cut was overdue then, as your is by an additional 28 years!

Of course, getting a drastic cut just before the prom is a little risky, so your choice. And I agree that you should go to a real stylist, not the cheap-o $6 job. After all, long hair is better than crap hair.

Definately cut your hair! Long hair on guys tends to make them look "soft".. unless they're muscular (and even then it takes a certain "face" to carry it off).

Also, it wouldn't surprise me that if more ladies replied, you'd notice that most would vote for cutting your hair. :)

And on a side note, if you do, you can probably donate it to Locks of Love. (http://www.locksoflove.org/) Which is an organization that provides hairpieces to people who have lost hair from medical conditions.

Disagreed, yes it may not be a good look most of the time, but if you use long hair to your proper advantage, you can pull something decent off.

Yeah wow, no offence man, but that just looks greasy. Of course you should have kept it for the Floyd concert, but now that that's passed I say get it as short as possible. Couple inches maybe, I think it'd look a lot better.

Even though I'm a guy, I still know too much about hair and all that shit just because my mom is a hairstylist. Bleh.

I'm sure you've made up your mind about getting by cut by now, but for future reference, or any other guy reading this, I think if you're male your hair should never be longer than your ears. Some people can pull off the shaggy, surfer dude kind of hair if it's still not too long, but that really only works if you're a teenager.
