View Full Version : Breadth or Depth in DJs?

I've been in a bit of dilemma lately: my dream recall has become fantastic, but I find I have a rather narrow window in which to write an entry (about 15-30min when I first wake). It's narrow for two reasons: it starts to fade after about 15min, and it's inconvenient to stay laying in bed for any longer.
So, which should I concentrate on, logging as many 'scenes' as possible or logging just a few and trying to keep as much detail? Thanks for reading :)

Congratulations on developing great recall!! :boogie:
I can think of a few ways to answer you.
First, if you want to use reading in your DJ to help you recapture the feeling of dreaming (which can help you become lucid more often, especially if done shortly before bed) I'd reccomend going for the detail.
Second, if keeping a record of how many dreams you recall, how many LDs, etc is more important, then just do brief entries for each dream.
However, if you want some of both, try doing what I do. In the morning I jot down quick notes on each dream with just enough info and detail so that when I read it later that day (or even a few days later) I'll be able to remember the dream in greater detail. Then when I have time (usually in the evening or before bed) I take these quick notes and use them to write longer in-depth entries in my big DJ. Sometimes I won't have a chance to do this for a few days, but using the short notes I can still remember details about most of my dreams when I do have the time. And when I can't remember anything beyond what I've written for a few dreams I don't feel like I've lost too much.
