View Full Version : Nicotine Patch - using them to mess with your dreams?
My brother used nicotine patches to help him quit smoking. He had the craziest dreams when he was on the patch - ultra violent, detailed, vivid.
This of course naturally gave me the idea to do an experiment with nicotine patches to see how they influence my dreams. But I'm a non-smoker! It might make me feel sick?
Has anyone here ever purposely used the patch for dream-related purposes?
What effect on your dreams did it have?
Also, are you a smoker/non-smoker?

I went through a quitting session and I resorted to the patch. I definitely
agree with crazy vivid dreams. I wouldn't go out of your way and use the
patches just to improve your dreams, recall, or lucidity. However, if you must,
I would use the smallest patch available, and only wear it while asleep. I really
doubt this would cause you to want to smoke. The part about quitting that is
hard for me, is the actual act of smoking. Just exercise caution while using
these patches.
They are quite pricey too!
Use your best judgment, but I recommend against it. 5-htp has a similar effect
to tobacco on my dream intensity/recall. 5-htp is safe to use, just do your
research before trying!

I wouldn't use a nicotine patch if I was a non-smoker, you might get addicted.
=s
If I got addicted to cigarettes by using a nicotine patch for a dream experiment, I would really feel like a fool.
Then again, it would make a good story at a party.
"Hey you know I never used to smoke cigarettes until..."
