I've been thinking over the dreams I;ve chronicled, and trying to think of anything that occured in most or all of my dreams. One of the things I found was that my dreams often seem to have been edited like a movie, with transitions between different scenes, and every once in a great while a montage (typically without auible music). The problem is, I can;t think of any time that, while waking, I could use this sign to remind myself to preform a reality check. Life isn;t arranged by shots and scenes. It's one shot per blink, 365 scenes per year. I can;t figure out how to use this. If anyone has a suggestion, please help.

i see your problem here. One thing you could do is visualize yourself in a situation like that throughout the day, and then also visualize yourself noticing it as a dream sign, realizing your dreaming and then doing whatever you would want to do. If you cant actually have the dream sign in waking life, you have to create it.

do rc anytime u find yourself thinking about it or something related to it, like the word "Transition" "Scene" etc.

I suppose that makes sense, it'll be useful for the next two weeks because I have a film class, but what then? Lucidboarder, do you mean like try to imagine if the scene (waking) were a filmed and edited dream, then imagine doing an RC?

ideally you should imagine it exactly as it would appear in your dreams. Re create a dream you had where that film-like effect happened, and then imagine yourself doing an rc, realizing you are dreaming and then doing what it is you would do in your lucid dream. It wouldnt hurt to remind yourself to recognize the dream sign in your dreams to. Yay auto suggestion!

What about when you're watching films and tv?

What about when you're watching films and tv?

That's what I was gonna say. Any time you notice these in a tv show or movie, you ought to be doing reality checks like mad just to get yourself in the habit. Then in your dream, a transition will happen and you'll remember to do an RC

Learn about the different types of transitions and shots. When I first learned these, it drove me nuts because I was always noticing them when I watched movies/TV. Somehow it kinda takes the magic away, if you know what I mean. So learn a bit about different video techniques, then do reality checks when you notice them watching TV. I learned it all in my video tech class at school.
