Okay, there's probably been a lot of people that have said this in the past, but...i just gotta say it one more time.

Whenever i try to RC, i'm not exactly sure what to do. I can't really pretend and say, "hmm, that's strange, i should see if i'm dreaming!" That doesn't work for me that well. And i don't see a lot of really weird things in RL, so thats also a problem. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT I WANT MY MIND TO THINK!!! My life is to realistic now that i'm getting older. As a child, i would lucid almost every DAY!

Okay, sorry if that sounded angry...'im a little stressed out right now.:embarrassed:

same with me, i was told to do reality checks during the day and eventually it'll go on into our dreams and we might do it then. im still a little confused.

I just do a nose RC every few minutes, hopefully doing it in a dream

basically u r just making an RC such a habit during RL that u will do it instinctively in a dream...kinda like walking or breathing haha, its really not that hard!

My dreams are usually quite logical so it is hard to pinpoint a moment where something is odd or out of the ordinary. The way I got over this (not completely just yet) was just to work on my dream recall which has lead me to have more vivd dreams. By doing this I'm much more aware of things in my dreams and my dream surroundings, and can more easily spot the signs that indicate I'm dreaming.

In my dreams it's usually weird speech patters or words that tip me off that I'm dreaming.

Tons of odd things happen in waking life. Look for them:

If you are late, or fear being late.
If you see a friend/neighbor at an odd place (Wal-Mart, your workplace).
If someone says something random.
If someone talks about dreams.
If technology malfunctions (even if you missed a button on the microwave, or a webpage lags oddly).
If you keep hitting red lights while driving.
If you forget something, and suddenly remember (false memories are often created in dreams).
If you feel any emotion irrationally or strongly (stub a toe on a chair, but yell at your spouse).

I bet at least one of these semi-odd things happen in your life each day (reality check alongside them). If not, congratulations: you have a congruent, sensical, boring life.

What if you just flow through with your dream and you are not vivid enough to pick these things?

thats true, hmm...i guess when you check for them so much in waking life, you start to see them in dreams more, but i really don't know.

That's why you try to get in the habit of doing reality checks when these things happen in waking life. Then you will hopefully just do a RC without thinking about it in the dream.

Since I've been doing reality checks, I get random impulses to do them while I'm awake. I've gotten the same impulses to do them in dreams too. I don't do RCs nearly as often as I should. Maybe 3 a week. But I've gotten 2 lucid dreams from reality checks even with my lame RC practice.

Slightly off topic but, from time to time when I'm doing things or not really thinking of anything in waking life, I can recall dreams Ive had years ago, the feeling I had when I was in it, its surroundings, what happend and so on. I dont deliberately do it but it just kind of flows in to my conciousness (spelling?) Its weird, I have even recorded dreams from the night before when Im just about to go to sleep.

Had a weird one about trying to hide a dead horse in a dug out driveway :S the horse was kidding on for some reason too! All the while I didnt twig I was dreaming lol
