For anyone who has a lot of LDs... what did it take for you to get them consistently?

Be Obsessive. B-E Obsessive. B-E-O-B-S-E-S-S-I-V-E. Hehe. That's what worked for me. I also prayed about it - but I know not everyone does that. :) This forum helped me a lot. Just reading other peoples' lucid dreams and techniques, etc.

42 is right on track. If LDing occupies a significant part of your waking thoughts, it will spill over when you go to sleep!

I am completely not with 42(nothing personally)

Being obsessive is not good, be cool about it, think it come naturaly, think of it as easy. Being obsessive means you get pissed or sad everytime you fail at getting a LD, instead tell yourself, if not today the tommorow!
Believe in yourself, but dont get pissed if you fail, i found that either thinking about it during the day or not doesnt matter jack shit. As longas you become focused during the evening/night.But there is a diffirence between being aware and thinking about LDing all the time. But then I use WILD, so it doesnt really matter.

Second, praying is stupid, it is selfish like hell. You dont ask God/the cosmos/spirits or whatever you believe in for that. Thats selfish. You dont wish the cosmos for such things. Its an unnessary thing, you must achieve it on your own. I never pray/request for myself, only for others.

Thats my opinion

Praying really sounds like a last resort to me..and even then, why even bother the higher powers with something selfish.

You selfish bastards!

jk, :P

i was OBSESSED at first, and i didn't progress, but i did when i gave up teh obsession, and took it cooly.

but i think obsession is a good start, but then just learn to take it cool, and consider advice from all the other people posting, and try all the techniques, and stuff...as had been said.

That sounds like what i was doing when i first was trying to have lucid dreams. i started going to bed at a reasonable hour (not something i normally do) because i remember hearing that it helps to be well rested, but when i did that all i got was a massive decrease in dreams and next to no recollection of any of the dreams i might have had... so one night i just thought... bugger it... and that night i could recall at least 3 dreams clearly and almost went lucid on the last one! (there's still hope! :) )
so i realised it didn't help to be obsessive and went back to being cool about it

Hey, don't rag him for praying! Don't tell him what he can and can't pray for. I don't think there is anything selfish about asking help with things you have trouble achieving on your own. Yeesh people, its called praying for a reason.

I was rather jooking about it lol..

But it is still my opinion..I dont like to waste precious prayers on myself. The spirits dont like it when asked to much, so when I do pray, I pray for others. I think lucid dreaming is something that can easily be aquired on your own and no interference from supernatural forces is required..instead pray for..

- The health and safe being of your family, your friends, your lover
- Pray for guidance and protection for those in danger
- Then pray for other lucid dreamers if you wish for dreams, wish others happiness
- Pray for the planet, pray to stop war, racism, corruption and what not
- Wish positive energy among the universe

or whatever

I dont want to tell anybody what to do. Thats just my opinion, I just think there are so much more important things, but do as you wish, this is just how I feel, this is nothing personal, an i dont want to offend anybody

When you so, dont worry, good will come to you aswell, when you pray for others, others will pray for you. And if they dont, you always get what you deserve, never what you want

I guess it depends on which religion you follow I guess. I do believe in fire spirits called jinn, but they are a very different subject and are in no way helpful.

I only ask God for help for everything, from myself to world peace and I believe He always wants to be asked for help, because He knows we're too weak without Him.

Blah, blah I just gave a little religious background on my self. Hope it doesn't bother anyone.

Well its probaly because im not christian(im mostly buddhist, with some other) . I dont believe in an all powerful god. I believe in god as everything, god as the cosmos. Mostly its the spirits I pray to. They exist in many forms..
