View Full Version : Increasing efficacy of MILD

My usual WBTB+MILD procedure would often go something like this:

1. Get up early enough, maybe set an alarm.
2. Type out the dream I just had, maybe read a bit about LDing.
3. Go to bed while I repeat "I will REMEMBER to REALIZE that I'm dreaming" taking note as to what the capitalized words actually mean.

Sometimes, I'll just be in the dream and go "hey, that's right, I'm dreaming" and sometimes I'll do an RC and go from there. Lately, it's been more often I remember to do an RC and am successful.

It works, but not as often as I would like it to. Perhaps maybe five out of ten times. When it fails, i just have a normal dream without remembering to do any of the things I wanted to do. So how can I make this work a little better? Different mantra? Stay up longer? (I sleep about maybe 5 hrs before the alarm gets me up) If you use this technique, how often does it work for you and what do you do?

And could I just do #3 right from the start of the night to try to increase the odds of me getting an LD? Still including WBTB, of course.

Well you could cut out on the WBTB, I find that thinking about lucid dreaming and repeating a mantra like yours works without having to get out of bed. From my experience it seems to have more success if I fall to sleep faster, if I stay up to long it doesn't work.
I hope this was useful.
