Hey, good thread idea. The majority of people will likely come through Google, because we're listed right on the first page of results for "lucid dreaming" (#10--right at the bottom--but we're still on the first page!) I am curious as to other places people are linking to the site from.
Others?
As for me, the little green gnomes told me about this place. (?)

how i learned about lucid dreaming... i was in economics class when this kid was talking about how he had a dream that was soooo vivid. he said that in the dream he shot up heroine, and the feeling he got when he shot up was unexplainable. -- the teacher overheard and asked if he could control the shooting up, he said no. then the teacher started talking about lucid dreams and how they got him through highschool... he revieled that they started to mess with his head in college, he couldnt tell reality from dream world so he kept getting paranoid. sorry to say he quit. i wanted to know more about it so i did a search on yahoo. yea thats right, yahoo. and found this site. i've been in training ever since thanksgiving and i have to say i remember so much more, and its all getting more and more vivid with each day. :happyme:
p.s. google sucks, yahoo RULES! :finger:

I had an EXTREMELY frightening experience almost just like this, with heroin and everything. I woke up with a craving for a drug I'd never done before. It was one of the worst (and most interesting, though most frightening) dream experiences I'd ever had.

Much better: msn.com
I don't know how I first learnt about lucid dreaming, but I first came to DreamViews about 2 years ago, as a wee little child. Now, a renewed interest and motivation are upon me, and the forum is now here. A quick search for "lucid dreaming" via MSN, 1st choice, read around the page again, "good to be back" feeling, and finally found the forum.

Around XMas time I had a vivid memory of my dreams. I felt the urge to read up about dreams cuz a while back I had a mild curiosity about flying in dreams. I thought I did it before because I remember lifiting off an office chair with several others. I looked online and found techniques and sites.
I found dreamviews.com from GOOGLE and found my way to the forum. I started to read peoples messages and got more interested. Then I created an account and I am on the board.
I looked at flying as being a big thing, before. I always wanted to be able to fly in my dream and I heard about it before and it sounded really COOL!!!!! Well, I had my first lucid dream about a week ago. I flew!!!! I was controlling it. Now there is alot more things to experiement with and learn. Ive just hit the tip of the iceberg.
Go DreamViews!!!!!!
Yup. googling for me too!

Just for fun:

True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

hello
i found it by google also
i'm glad there is some where that i can seriously discuss LD with people
i've talked to many people about it and most all of them have never had a LD i don't think they know what it is because if you have one you'll definetly know it and i've never talked to any one with controll.
i imagine that all serious LDers will make it to this site any the others will be weeded out.
Thanks

I found this on howstuffworks.com as I saw at least one other person mentioned. I was looking up sleep because I'm at work and stinking tired after going to bed late last night. No google search for me. Oh, and this was the first time I'd heard about Lucid dreaming. I've experienced it, but I didn't know there was a precise term for it. :!:

How i found it? Google. Why I looked? Well I had a teacher in english who was big into dreaming and such. He mentioned lucid dreaming, and explained it.. Everyone in the class thought he was crazy (and most of the time he was).. but this time i knew he was not, for I had lucid dreams years back (i called them flying dreams.. but the difference between most people's and mine, was that i controlled them, nightmares too).
So, my longing to LD once more, led me on a research binge, where I fell on these forums.. I've read up many places, but this is the only place I can actually get answers and experiances.
Thanks everyone. I got my ability back.

stumbled onto this while searching for things on meditation wich led to reading about NDE's, (and how to put a rabbit into a tracelike state)
OBE's and LD. then i started reading about OBE's (mostly) and got intrested in LD (and explanations saying everything about nothing)
so i signed up to 1.) find out a bit more about what to belief
and 2.) experience it myself
or maybe 3.) find my own reasonable answers (reasonable to me)
i'm not a sceptic but neither am i a believer, i'd like to keep an open mind but there is soooo much garbage out there that it's hard to keep a clear head.

it's hard to say really...different designs/atmospheres just appeal to different people, which is why other people say they joined there and instead of us. i guess that fact reaffirms that it's good that we both exist.

They were my one of my top bands before they did their sophmore release so it was even better for me. Their first full lenght was called Leitmotif so try to make sure what you download was not off that one. Not that it would be bad music at all, but just not on the topic of our conversation. Check their site www.dredg.com, I think you can get some tunes there too.
Basically all the lyrics that are sung were derived from letters sent in by fans describing their experiences in LD's. One of my favorites is a song called "of the room"................Plus they are all pretty cool guys.......Enjoy!

I once told my group of friends about Lucid Dreaming and what it was about about 2 years ago. hello all,
I found this site through a websearch, too.
I kept a dream journal in high school, an got pretty good at dream recall, but when I got to college i kinda let it go. then a couple of months ago i had this really amazing, vivid dream, but it faded too quickly for me to remember. I feel like there was some really important message that I got out of it and then forgot, and I just kicked myself for getting out of practice. So I've been keeping a journal since then, and my progress is much faster this time. I've had 6 or 7 dreams where i knew I was dreaming, and a couple where i could control aspects of the dream, but I haven't been able to try anything really fun yet.
anyway, i browsed on this site for a couple days, and you all seem like such a fun group :)
looking forward to sharing dreams,
bizzy

Greetings and Salutations all, my name is withheld, but you may call me Bunny, Rabbit or Funny (or perhaps something from your imagination… if you find it appropriate, but remember to be polite, if not for me— then for the sake of other’s that will undoubtedly view this site!)
But I am detracting from the point of this particular post, which is how I found this site… Well, to be honest it isn’t very interesting, but I feel the desire to join in so here goes nothing…
I am currently a student at the local community college where I am studying among other things Psychology. In the forum that my professor has set up for us he has a list of web sites that he would like us to view to better equip ourselves to understand the human mind. To make a short story long, I found this site on the list and since I have been practicing lucid dreaming (albeit, I haven’t been the most avid practitioner) I seem to be relatively accomplished but feel that I need to learn more, so here I am.
Not quite a neophyte, but not yet a scholar… I am here to learn and hopefully one day to be able to give advice to those seeking to learn more…
Until next we meet,
Merry Met and Merry Part…
And in all things be well,
The White Rabbit

yay for professors considering us worthy enough to suggest as a learning source!
Hi all!
Some people call me Hate, so you can do it too. I heard from lucid dreaming last summer, and soon I found my way into a Finnish lucid dreaming site. They had a link here, and now I decided to join as I wanted to find a good bigger lucid forum too. I'm not gonna introduce myself any more, as there's likely to be nothing that'd interest anyone 8)

Found this site while researching on howstuffworks.com (I was wondering if anyone else found that link, turns out they did).
I wasn't even researching sleeping or dreaming, was supposed to be researching for a chemistry project (water softening) but then
you know how intriguing dreaming is (obviously, you've got a whole site dedicated to a certain type of dreaming :D ) so i just
couldn't resist.

Well, I found this site through Yahoo(LOL Yahoo, not google)! This is because when I told my oldest sister that I get to dream every nite, I know that I am dreaming, & have known since I was 3, & been able to control them at 4, she said that I was Lucid.....I like ask her, "What the heck does that mean?" She told me, & she even said that I was really lucky(what does luck have to do with this?). After this, I looked it up on Yahoo somewhere in December, & found this webpage, but didn't join for a while as I was hiding looking at this forum, & wondering a little about it, until wasup got one of my messages, went into my chatroom, & convinced me to join this forum.

I was bored, and drifting in cyberspace-comptiplating life, and the good things in life...Which infact, a dream can be a good thing in life. So I used a search engine... sue me.

No, I am not a natural born killer, so the dream wasnt in red. Or any hue for that matter. Anyway it was the scariest thing I ever seen. It was a two headed snake with pshyic powers that wanted my flesh and soul. What a nightmare, lol. Maybe it wasnt so bad since it was a thrill. I almost craped my pants. No, really, if you find it interesting or stimulating in a way that you can handle- maybe then a nightmare can become a dream. :)

Perversions of the unconiousness.....An eight member team of swedish supermodels who sexually seduce you into becoming thier eunich beotch.. Wet dreams and the alike. Like taking a shower with Hillary Swank and suddenly she morphs into mister miagi (arnold from happy days). Just examples of good dreams gone bad. Unless your into that kind of stuff.
