To my fellow canadians: how do you feel about the result of tonight's elections??
Conservatives it is eh... any thoughts?
---
À tous les canadiens ici présent: que pensez-vous des résultats de nos élections fédérales ce soir?
Encore une fois les conservateurs l'emportent... d'après vous, est-ce pour le mieux ou pour le pire?

Conservatives... yech. I wanted the green party.
But then again, I couldn't really care any less about politics, Canadian or otherwise.

They're all idiots as far as I'm concerned.
I hate the Conservatives, but sadly, for now I find they're our best bet. On the condition that they stay a minority government that is.
Dion is an idiot. Layton is an idiot. Green, enh. They haven't had a chance to screw things up yet at least.

Canada doesn't matter therefore the election doesn't matter.
Oh, and can I mention how much I hate first past the post?
Bloq got 10% popular vote, 49 seats
Green got 7% popular vote, 0 seats
independant got 0.65% of the vote, 2 seats
Yay for broken maths!

Jeff doesn't matter, therefore his opinion doesn't matter.
I was hoping for Green Party, but I knew there'd be no chance in hell they'd win.... Plus, I don't think they really have a good defense policy, they're kind of hippies. The only really good thing is their stance on marijuana. We waste too much cash on putting people in jail over stupid shit like marijuana, and keeping it illegal just means more money in the hands of dealers.
I'm rather unhappy, because nothing is going to change, and Stephen Harper is a douchebag. He cut $45 million from the arts, and basically called artsy people pretentious dickheads, I'm paraphrasing of course, but you get the picture.

Jeff is the alpha and the omega baby. He sure as shit matters.
Edit: For the record, I was kidding in my first post...I'm serious in this one.

Dude... quit going to threads posting comments that have nothing to do with the thread.
As for my contribution: I've noticed that you guys talk about the Canadian elections just like Americans do. I haven't heard anything until now about Canadian elections. You'd think being America's hat and all that you would hear something...

...My post was relevant to Canada. You fail to see that. Aside from that, you can't name a single thread that I "go into to post irrelevant material". Because there are none.
Whatever though, this red-blooded American will leave this Canada only thread.

The lowest voter turnout on record. Way to go Canada! No real leader there to vote for in any party..eh?
"Canadians shunned the polls during their general election with the lowest voter turnout on record, even as a global financial crisis threatened to plunge the nation's economy into recession."

That was pretty much my mindset. No one worth the effort of a vote, so why do it?
But, I decided not to be cheap and exercised my right to vote regardless.
I voted Lenin-Marxist.

It's a beautiful place. I went to a theme park in Montreal called "La Ronde". Another thing I really liked (and paid attention to) was all the interracial couples there.

Well that election was pointless. Harper said he's expecting a Conservative Minority. Wait, why call one then? Thanks for wasting tax dollars!!
As for the parties, I don't see why we constantly vote conservative... Can't the average voter see that they just kiss the ass of that idiot that the other idiots were stupid enough to elect twice?
Oh, I forgot. Liberals are taxmongers and corrupt, and NDP are communist. Right.
And I see why only 59% turned out... The leaders? These aren't leaders!! Harper = Robot (and he's conservative.. ugh..), Dion looks like a pompous prissy freak, Jack Layton looks like he came right off the set of a Canadian Tire commercial, and Elizabeth May is just plain ugly. Besides, the Green Party isn't even a real political party, what with only the "environmental" thing going for them.
Appearance does matter. Maybe not to Canadians, but for our international image.

Canadian tire commercial!?!?! LOL this is the best comment yet!
But seriously, I watched the debates on Radio-canada and CBC before the elections and our "leaders" were acting like big babies. I was almost ashamed of their behaviour. Instead of adressing the issues the country is going through, they spent more time personally attacking harper (I don't like harper and some of the comments about him were right but no one deserves public humiliation like that).
I too am worried about Canada's international image. Growing up I always held our country in high estime, but that feeling is slowly fading away...

Exactly... And then Elizabeth May naively running in her home riding fully knowing she may not be elected in it, but just because it was her home riding...
Then losing it...
Fail.
Personally, I would support the NDP platform the most. But considering their leaders not the best and that in the end, all parties end up being the same once elected (i.e. Doing nothing and not keeping election promises)... Ugh...
Not that my vote will make a difference, living in Alberta. All conservative here.
