View Full Version : Sensory Deprivation

REALLY don't know where to put this one.
Basically I've always waned to use a sensory deprivation chamber and I searched for days once trying to find one close to me.

I found one and read the FAQ on their site they said it is ok to use if you have a period as long as you use your tampon and that people with aids and other diseases can also use them so I ruled that out lol

So a couple of days ago I was in the pool and decided to try out a poor mans version.

Basically I had this little fake netball ball like made of rubber or whatever that stuff is, it's really soft and filled with air. I put that under my legs on the underside of my knees and crossed my legs so I didn't have to use any muscles to keep them together and the ball underneath.

I relaxed my body and just floated because of my lungs filled with air. This was the reason for the ball because normally when you float your legs sink down.
So now I could control how far up I was in the water with how much air was in my lungs. I made it so that my ears were under, to block out sound.

As I breathed my eyes sometimes went in and out of the water and I started doing this on purpose because as the water runs off and on it is like a gentle massage for your eyes. (eyes closed)

I eventually got this sudden vision, everything was blue like the sky. I could tell this was leading to something more but then I got the urge to stop and contemplate it (idiot lol) then I tried again in a minute and I could kind of get it again but it was like I could see my eyes opening and shutting and the blue in front of that. All a hallucination, not my real eyes.
Then my dad dived into the pool and completely ruined it.
But during this second try I could hear my heart beat throughout the water and also some pulse in my neck or something. Very relaxed and aware.

So yeah I will test this out again but am going to try and make it so if I do get into a proper vision/dream like state I won't drown lol.

Note: The pool was around the same temperature as my body.

So yeah, that's it. If you have any suggestions on how to stop my head from going under if I start dreaming that would be good lol or else I don't think I will let it get to that state.

Peace,
Tom

Put a small flotation device under the back of your head that should work although one that does not detrement what you are trying to accomplish.

I wish I had my own personal deprivation tank I would use that thing all the time. But seeing as how they cost utterly ridiculous amounts of money it's not a very feasible idea. So recreating the experience like you have done is a probablly a good bet for anyone.

Sounds like an interesting experience. Honestly, I wouldn't be worried about using the chamber near you. If they say that anyone can use it, they are not at all worried about liability. If they had any doubts about this they would have rules, or else they could be sued. My guess is that they disinfect the chamber after every use, so theres no problem using it. Good luck with your further experiments though.

Since reading this thread, I've looked into some places near me, and it looks like the cheapest only costs $25 for an hour and a half...I think I'll be going next week, I'll let you guys know how it is.

So cool.
I heard you can really get overwhelmed with the realisation of the "Self" if you know what that means.
It is the essence of yourself many tend to never explore.
Buddhists strive on this development.
Just letting you know, so don't get worried in there ok, see it as SP coming on or something so as not to be scared.
Wish I was going.
:D

Ah! that's the site where I found it the first time.

Hm, yeah that's a good point. I might just go there and ask them about it.

I forgot to mention I did this. I got one of the head rest things from our spa and put that under my head, it floats a bit. But yeh it kinda distracts a tad and I think if I passed out it would slip off, it takes a bit of effort to keep it under. Like if my head went to the side it would probably pop out lol.

Mike what's a BSA? Bull Shit Artist? lol

:O I think cheapest near me is like $35 for an hour. Although they have 5 sessions for $150 and 10 for $245. If your a member. Little bit more for non member.
Are you American? Probably the money difference.

Ah, bastard. lol
You can smoke weed before hand too. lol Apparently that potentiates it by like a billion times. If you're into that.

Stopped smoking about 8 months ago and haven't really missed it, but yeah, I'd imagine it would be crazy.

Ok I got the same thing the other day without being in the pool. But I was in the sun. So I don't know what's with that but the sun must make you see the blue colour. You do have to be relaxed however. Just trying to figure this out.

I dont know tommo it could be because the sun was mainly out when me and my friend discovered this.
