It happens to me too but not always. You can try the all famous DEILD as would be said if I post anything else.

some of these could be the reasons for 3rd person dreaming

-watching lots of films (particularly films of yourself ie acting)
-look in the mirror a lot(eg body building)
- play lots video games

iv heard that these things are a factor of third person dreaming.
maybe if in the dream, you looked down you might see legs and that its actualy first person and that you are seeing acopy of yourself

You can retrain your mind to be more engaged in the dream...just an idea you may want to try. Like before you sleep..look at your hands...forget about the environment just focus and look at your hands. Then you look at your legs and feet and same thing. Then when you are ready to sleep...try and keep a constant awareness of your hands and legs and feet. Like you sleep as per normal with daydreams about the day's happening etc but still aware of your hands and legs and feet. This is to bring over an autosuggestion of being more aware as you the person in the dream. Just an idea...:).

I have many dreams in 3rd person as well and still have plenty of Lucids. What I do, is focus on one person who is in my dream and inhabit their body. usually I can enter one of the people I see from 3rd person. see if that helps :)

There's no need to keep posting on a thread if no one has answered you. Just give them time. Please do not bump a thread.

If you do a search, there are a few threads on "third person" "3rd person" "perspective" that may answer your question. They get buried every so often.
