hi. new posts are not showing up as new for me. the blue boxes stay gray even after people make new threads and posts. is anyone else having this problem or is it just this lame computer. :*(

I have this problem sometimes. I think it might be the fact that the system is still registering us as 'logged in' when we close our browsers for some reason. So the boxes don't turn blue since it thinks we're still logged in when the new post gets posted.

EDIT: Yep, it just happened to me again.

I believe it's necessary to actually 'log-out' for messages to be properly recorded as unread; not all messages, of course, but the ones that occur during the interim (period of time after you leave but before being actually marked as offline). I could, however, be wrong about that; I haven't closely examined the code related to the 'keep topics marked unread' mod (which completely rewrote the entire read/unread service).

Yeah i sorta noticed this, or something similar. Looking at threads i had posted in, and looking at replies that never got emailed as 'new message'.
But oh well, all is still good ;)

Now everytime I come back with IE, it either says no new posts or tells me the number of new posts but none of the threads are darkened. Now I have to find the last post I didn't read... But I found out that if I use Firefox, this problem is fixed.

Oh yeah... at the main site top right corner. Sometimes I come in and it says my name and the number of new pms I have, but at other times it shows the login fields?

No big problems though... this place still rocks. :D

sounds to me like you need to clear your cookies and also possibly your cache.

if you don't log out your session persists, and i've removed a lot of the resource burdening checks and whatnot (just from the main page because they're completely unnecessary as your session isn't really used for anything there other then identifying your name and a number of unread PMs).
