View Full Version : I almost got KILLED!
There i woz in a park wiv my friends and we decide to go on this "little" adventure. We went to the top of this embankment and got out onto a field. Then it happened. We heard dogs barking and we came to the conclusion that a farmer had set dogs on us! We ran for our life across the wall against the field and found an opening in the barbed wire. We went through that and got bak onto the path. We walked on and then some dirt bikes came along the path and we ran for our lives, running through the path. I found a clearing and then ran into it and tripped up. My shoe then came off and i woz lying face down in the grass. Praying that a motorbike wasn't going 2 hit me i got up and watched the motorbikes go past and realised i waoz completely safe, i even waved and smiled at some of them.
Pleaz post ure replies
Thanx!

Why would you assume that the dirt bikes were out to run you over? Does that even make sense? Oh well... :|
Oh no they weren't out to run me over, it's just it's such a narrow path that they would'nt hav seen us and they would have accidentaely run us over

even then couldnt you just have gone a little into the forest to get out of the way?
They didn't know we were there exactly and besides there was no other pasth to go onto so i had to run really far o find a clearing and there woz nowhere else for the bikes to go.

i think you misunderstood me, well todays your lucky day. show and tell
So what if there wasnt a clearing? just jump in a bush or grab onto a branch/tree and climb. It's a lot better and smarter than what you did. I dont know what compelled you to think that you could outrun dirtbikes
Here's a picture of what I mean. I tried to find the worst possible forest path to try and dipict your situation.

Reminds me of what some wild animals do if they're standing on a road/railroad and a car/train is coming. Instead of going to one of the sides they run along the road/track.

Wow. It is really hard to understand what you're trying to say.
But it kinda sounds like you made a big deal out of nothing. Or you have an over-active imagination.

I don't even think they were dirtbikes...I bet they were girls in their pink bikes with tasslers in the handlebars

I'm not sure why humans are compelled to run in a linear direction to what is perceived to be danger - i.e. try and outrun it. Like with the dirt bikes, you could have easily just moved off to the side of the path -- whatever it was it doesn't matter, if you just get off the "path" you will likely be safer than running down the path. If you were in the street and a car was coming would you start running in the direction the car was going? I'd hope not. Much easier to step out of the way.
Saw this in a movie the other day too, with an avalanche. For some reason the people thought they could outrun it, even though it was pretty narrow and they were on snowmobiles and would have been much easier to just go across or sort of diagonal and just get out of the path.
Well animals sometimes do this to. Once a deer jumped out in front of my car, and it could have easily just gotten out of the way, but instead it turned and started running in the direction I was going. I was shocked at the seeming "stupidity". If I was on a dirt bike and saw some guy trying to run away from me in my way, I actually just might hit him on purpose for being so "stupid"... just get out of the way!
Don't try to outrun things you obviously will not be able to. Just get out of the path of whatever it is. Seems to make sense, but there is something in us that takes over many times and compels us to try and outrun whatever it is that is coming.

Was this some sort of magical path that if you went off of either side of it you fell into the abyss? :P

Haha, the chase is the fun part of every adventure.
Sounds to me like Haz'04 wanted to get away from the PEOPLE riding the bikes, not the actual bikes themselves. Sure a bike can't ride off the path, but once the rider has dismounted, they can.
The closest I have ever been to getting killed was some of my friends almost getting killed. My mate Harley gave a thumbs up to some bogans in a car and they took it the wrong way, started chasing them on the nature strip with the car :D
