i work in a cancer ward. constantly i see thirty people a day coming through for chemo...trying to prolong their life.
you think that would be awful..youd think they would be living in dispear, in misry, hopeless, lost, unsure of their purpose...you think id want to heal them, to take their pain.
but the irony is...the patients have more life in them then any of the people i work with. its the STAFF i want to feed life energy into. Its the STAFF that are miserable, empty, robotic...moving through the motions of life with no emotion, no feeling, neither good nor bad, happy nor sad, just blank nothing.
the patients know they might die at any minute...so they feel ALIVE in the moment, they are inspired to make the most of every SECOND...they are full of love and awareness.
Its so sad it takes something like illness to Awaken a human.

I am actually surprised by your post, because I would have thought these people would be in a bad state of mind. A good friend of mine battled bone cancer for about a year in high school, she underwent intense chemo and she was almost fully recovered, and then relapsed and was given 3 months to live. I remember when I would go and visit her she always had a great sense of humor about everything even though she was bed ridden...but I do know that towards the end she was very upset, she didn't understand why this was happening to her, she became angry...and I can't blame her. I couldn't imagine dying like that...wondering why, with anger. I don't think I believe in ghosts but if they exist, I can understand why they might be so angry.

That's a sweet post InfiniteReality ;)
That can also relate to athletes, who have overcome life illness, or terrible situations ect. Although id think it's not ilness that needs to awake a person, but a motivation so important it can't be ignored, or something similar.

Having that anger, as your dying, that would be hard. Trying to vent it out but not really knowing who or how to vent it to. Nice how you went to visit and stuff ;)

Cancer does suck, it lives in us every day. Almost everyone knows someone with cancer, i hate diseases alltogether.

If I had cancer I would actually be happy and relieved. It is really nice to at least know when you will die instead of have it come unexpectedly. This way you have somewhat of a chance to do what you want and not be selfish about it.

no offence to you but i think if you asked a few hundred thousand people with cancer, where they had an expected life span they wouldn't be very happy. you don't hear people laughing when they get the news of having a brain tumour do you?
imo you arn't giving credit to your good health, and take having an undefinite life span for now for granted.
Why is it good knowing when you are going to die, that would totally suck. It's not selfish living life as normal, not knowing what's going to happen.
