What an inspiring moment in American History and a repudiation of the politics of hate and fear in favor of hope and unity. Forty five years ago the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream and tomorrow that dream will come to life.
The inauguration is an American event where we will celebrate the peaceful transition of the president-elect becoming president. I believe Obama rallies America into a common purpose of making it economically stronger, and preserving and pursuing peace throughout the world.
Barack Obama seems to be the type of man who can unite the different factions of the populace. He is a kind of role model for young black men who feel like they can make it, now that they've seen someone else make it. His genius, his voice will be everywhere. Not only is he an educated man, he’s a “street person” who has a great ability to keep himself grounded. He's got all the background, and he is for change, which is something that needs to be done. Barack Obama projects an image and a persona that many people never see in the media, in textbooks, and sometimes in their own communities. So I think this is really going to make a powerful impact not only on African-Americans but the whole of a nation both young and old.

I'm glad Obama won, but I am absolutely appalled by the Inauguration. It absolutely disgusts me in fact. Why? because its going to cost over a 100 million dollars!
You might think its not very much, but what ever happened to the economic crisis?!!?!?!? Its a huge deal, every states budget cut is being cut by a whole entire 1/3rd of what we needed...for example Utah (where I live) was supposed to get 750 million dollars this year, but now were expected to get less than 500 million!
now...think about it...a 100 million dollar fucking asshole of an inauguration!
I SAY FUCK IT!

Lets share fond memories of the last president.
Remember when he choked on that pretzel, or waved at Stevie Wonder, or nearly got hit with a shoe :content:

when I saw that shoe get thrown at the president, I was yelling "hit that son of a bitch!".
They translated what the reporter had said too (the guy who threw the shoe) and it goes to show how unhappy Iraqe's people are with George Bush (war criminal)
oh, and once again "FUCK THE INAUGURATION! ITS FUCKING YOU!"

Thats already been done, long before obama was even known.
The path to socialism was started by FDR, and continues on reguardless of the president.
Enough with the obama is a socialist jargon, even if mccain won we would continue on the path to socialism, so don't try to comfort us with lying conservatives who are socialists in disguise.
This inauguration was great, and I hope this man does great things, I disagree with him on a whole boatload of issues but, I would much rather have him as a president then some washed up wrinkled old fart with a short temper...or another godamn bush or clinton.

You misunderstood my post greatly. It wasn't a declaration or even a prediction of what is going to happen. It was just one of the many worst-case scenarios that might happen. Kind of like the Flying Spaghetti Monster returning to save us from the Flying Invisible Unicorn or discovering water on Mars.
I liked his speech, by the way. Watched it on youtube this morning. Kind of felt he was going to be the Antichrist halfway into it, though.

Totally agree! The world will recognize that there is a systemic under America's feet and this change will bring a new direction for world affairs. I've watched this inauguration and it was inspiring and rather some people like it or not it is "HISTORY" in the making. Nothing can change that. My favorite part was Rev. Lowery Speech.
We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around. When yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.

If anyone watched the broadcast on MSNBC, when Bush's helicopter took off, shortly after you could hear the crowd singing "Nah nah nah nah, Hey hey hey, good bye" in the background. It's quite hilarious. I imagine someone will put that on youtube, for those who didn't see it. Hilarious.

my favorite part was when the father started with the civil rights movement snippets. "The white will be alright, the brown will stick around, the yellow will be mellow, The red man will get ahead man" Then you just here people snickering.
I mean i know it was all serious but the dude had some speech problems, like he sounded kinda drunk. Just slurring his words left and right and then people were just like. Lulz Bai i saw B-Rock bama i wawnt mai economy fix plz nao.

I was under the impression that Barack Obama is president of the United States, not king of the world or president of the UN.

Looking further into it I heard that Chief Justice Roberts had said it wrong at first, which is probably why this may have stumped Obama for a split second. When they repeated it, they both said it in concert.
The correct way??

Obama is against gay marriage and said he wants the war against pot smokers to continue. He is a Republicrat. Don't hope for too much.

I understand when people don't agree with the true policies or situations that may occur sometimes, but when people are ignorant that they set up some imaginary situation, then begin to hate what they felt set it up, it really annoys me, a lot.

The vast majority of the inauguration was funded by *private donations.* The things NOT funded by private donations were very non-extravagant: Obama's beastly limousine, secret security services, etc. etc. Furthermore, try to consider the vast amount of people who showed up compared to past inaugurations.

That's funny, but are you saying that what I said is not true? It's not anything hidden. He has publicly said he is against gay marriage and does not want pot to be legalized even to help fix the struggling economy. While I am at it, he is extending the war in Iraq another year and a half (at least that long, probably longer) and sending another 30,000 soldiers to Afghanistan. He is not all that different from a Republican, is he?

So let me get this straight...you think he's a republican because he cites homosexuality as being against nature, because he won't legalize pot and because he didn't pull the troops out the very second he was sworn in?
Then I guess I'm a republican too because I agree with all of the above.
