I had a debate with my friend about beer the other day. He says that when he gets sick with the common cold he drinks warm beer and it makes him feel better. He claims that it will help other people much better than some kind of medicine.

Well I called him a village troll :D and I told him that it's better to drink hot tea with lemon and honey.

At first I thought he wasn't serious but he really was serious.

I tried to reach a common ground and agreed that it might help him but I don't know about other people.

So what do you guys think about it?

Or maybe you have some other "miracle cure"?

Looking through some sites right now, it seems that warm beer is a pretty common remedy. :P

took him to the doctor to rehydrate him with an IV and give him a shot to settle his stomach. I asked him what he should eat and he said, "give him a warm beer". I obviously looked shocked, so he went on to explain that it had a lot of nutrients, was pretty neutral for the stomach, the carbon dioxide would help him feel better and the alcohol would help him sleep

TBH, I think beer is pretty gross when it's cold. Warm sounds like blegh.

Taste better cold easier to drink warm IMO. I can take a warm beer down in under 10 seconds. A cold one takes a while longer. As for it being a remedy I can see that based upon the effects beer have on the body is quite likely it could be used a remedy. If anything a placebo one at worst.

nah its no placebo effect, its the hops in beer, hops are anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory, they can help with pain, headaches and inflammation, or even minor bacterial infections

Hooray for hops!

I know that beer with alot of hop flavor is good for you

So when your sick, drink very hoppy beer with alot of hop flavor, screw dextromethorphan and acetominephen and ibuprofen, they suck!
