I really want to become a PI after watching movies like Angel Heart, and many other movies about PIs. The only problem is I don't have a car (I know, you would have never of guessed). A lot of it requires using a car to follow people or travel to find people.

I don't have experience as a cop, or have any certification, but I don't see how it matters unless I have to investiate a crime scene. I know it sounds kind of silly to chase this kind of thing, but I just love the movies man! haha.

I would be doing it self employed, and you know how those rich people will pay anything to get the job done. Also, working for banks will probably be in high demand since the economic crysis has settled in to a reality for many.

uhh...any advice or thoughts? haha

Join some kind of quasi-military force, like, say THE POLICE, learn their trade, become experienced, quit, and then give up because PI's are like nothing you see in movies.

Seriously, that's a hellafa pipe dream. If you're this set on it, the next best thing is a bounty hunter.

Try looking into ITT Tech. they have a school in criminal justice, I'm thinking about joining that college too and take information systems security :)

Try looking into ITT Tech.

My friend got some degree in Criminal Justice and now he's working with a PI. That seems like it would be a good idea.

yeah, I really want to try and avoid doing those prerequisite kind of things.

If I do it freelance style I won't need any of it either. I could simply just search some info over the internet that would help me understand how to go about doing this kind of thing.

If you don't have a degree in that field I highly doubt that they'll hire you...

I could just get a fake. plus, what do they care if I get the job done?

Be sure to watch as many episodes of Magnum, P.I. as you possibly can, and save up the money you earn as a PI to get a red Ferrari 308 GTS.

Though the whole overcoat and fedora look is pretty badass, too.

It's harder to do my job than you really think.

You know you'll spend your life hunting down adulterers, right?

As well as other scum. I find pleasure in taking pleasure away. It's more elementary than you think, really.

Bounty hunting isn't exactly as glamorous as is shown by the TV-lords, either. If you're good at finding someone before the 10 other bounty hunters can do it though, go for it.

Oh I know, but I figure I would grow more from these barbaric jobs than I ever would by going to school.

I'm all about having to use my animal side.

Ace Ventura does the animal side. I hear pet detective work is quite lucrative. Though it has the potential to get very smelly.
