As the release date of the long awaited video game draws near, I want to be ready for the week. And by be ready I mean know how to stay up all night on a school night without being too tired the next day. Heh.

Does anybody know of a way through timing your REM times to stay up for a decent amount of the day/night without wasting too much energy? A tutorial on staying up all night? Any help would be great, or if there are any other Halo 2 people out here just leave a message. Thanks!

staying up? What infront of the store, or refreshing alt.binaries.warez or something all the time.

Hmmm, ive never tried this but try to keep your mind active, it doesn't exactly waste body energy so you won't feel sleepier, try to do puzzles and stuff.
Hope this helps

I probably won't have to worry until next summer, seeing as that's when Halo 2 will probably come out for PC. Oh, the things I could say...

I've heard so many good things about that game, I don't know how I'll survive the school year, and then manage not to spend every waking hour of next year (college!) playing that game.

As soon as San ANdreas comes out for PC next year, I'll be up for a week straight.

Too bad it'll take a supercomputer to play that game. :shakehead2:

Are they ever gonna put Shenmue II on PC? I want that!

There's the origonal Starcraft and then there's Broodwar, the expansion set. I heard about Ghost but I never saw it released. If they're still workin' on it then it'd better be a pretty friggin awesome game when it comes out!... I need to check on Blizzard and see if they're still alive. Anyone else know?

Halo 2? Probably not since it's designed to run on the same hardware as Halo (~700MHz Celeron or whatever it is).

Well it took like a 2.5 ghz computer to run Halo adequately with still some lag. So Halo 2 is going to be imaginatively worse.

I have 2.4 Ghz and 1 Gig of ram, and Halo runs laggy at times. However, one of my friends has a computer with about half that, and he has no problem running it at all. I'm guessing the problem is that my graphics card doesnt handle trasparencies that well, since the trees (the leaves are just big texture blocks with some transparent spots) are the only thing that slow it down for me.

Wow! I made a topic this big?!

Thanks for all the info on staying up.....wait, there wasn't much. haha, thanks anyway.

If you want to talk, watch, read and all things halo, head over to the site in my signature. Because although a dreamviews clan would be cool...I'm already in a clan, haha.

All I know about Halo 2 is that Incubus has 2 songs in its soundtrack, which I though is great....

*listens to "Incubus - Speak Free"*

Halo 2 I wont get to play for a while because I have no Xbox and the only experience I have of Halo is from LAN parties...

I have pre-ordered the HL2 Collectors Edition. Probably won't even try Halo 2 and San Andreas.

Hell yes, it would, haha.

I never have played any of the Half Lives. I'm not sure when San Andreas is coming out for the box.

12 days left...
i just read that 1.5 millions of copies have been preordered, ONLY in the usa! and they are estimating that halo 2 will earn more money the first 24 hours than ANY big movie ever have!

You guys also have to take into account, the fact that Halo was an uncertain project. It was originally going to be for PC, but then it was made for the Xbox. It was optimized for the Xbox. Now imagine trying to sort out all of your little tweaks (I am still talking about Halo 1 mind you), and getting it to run on literally hundreds of thousands of configurations. The developers went from something that was specialized with one console (at most 10 different Xbox versions), to a game that was supposed to run on people's PCs. It's not an easy thing to do.

Halo 2 might not even come out on PC (or maybe, they might use another developing team or something), and if it does, it will most likely take more time to port, de-optimize, reconfigure, etc.

----

Halo 2 is a huge milestone for videogames as a whole, however. Like dj0s said with the movie sales. This will really give video games a much broader push into the world market as whole (if it wasn't already), but we might see a movie effect where games become less and less story-centered...hope not.

And if you haven't seen it already, take a look at the Halo trailer (you kind of think, by watching, that this game is coming in "Summer '05"...you'll see what I mean). Go to gamespot.com or another place.

----

Ah, and my Gamer tag is VinMan11, so let's try and get a game going that day. I usually only play with friends, and I am really wondering if my expertise in my "controlled environment" is going to hurt my game play. I know I got a cruel reality shock just trying out Xbconnect...

Canceling is a bitch though, so don't try it until you're really sure!
