A few minutes ago I was trying to WILD during a nap but I hit a bump.
I didn't try to do anything like counting breaths, etc. I just relaxed and waited. After only a few minutes my mind began to drift and I had various interesting visuals.
All of a sudden my body felt weird (like Jello, I think) and I became very rigid; I guess this was my first SP experience. I let it work and relaxed, but my heart started to beat loudly and the SP faded off. I made sure to RC after this happened, but the test passed.
I tried to start over again, but the noise of traffic outside of my house (live on a busy road) was too distracting.
I just can't figure out why my SP just faded out of nowhere.

I used to have the same problem. It takes a little getting used to, for me at least. Keep trying after a while your heart doesn't race. No matter what I would do I couldn't stop my heart from racing. It doesn't race anymore I guess it takes time. Just a little more and you could be in full paralysis!

Yeah I guess I will have to keep practicing to get over it. I've given up for the day, I'm not really tired anymore.
Thanks, it's good to know I'm not the only one to have this problem.

If you're trying to feel full SP, you're doing it WRONG. The way you're supposed to WILD is, you get about half way through SP, then you start making the dream and entering it. By the time you can walk around in the dream, your body will automatically be in full SP.

So should I let SP continue on naturally until I can create the actual dream? When I started to feel vibrations I had lost visuals.

When you start to feel vibrations you should be seeing lots of visuals. The only thing that can prevent you from seeing visuals is you. You're probably trying to control it too much.
If you do lose visuals, and you tried and can't get them back, one thing you can do is a sort of tactile anchor. You can imagine your hands feeling something very familiar, like your dresser, and the rest of the room should eventually appear around you. But the thing about SP is, it shouldn't be difficult for these things to happen. Unless you're experiencing fake SP...

Mmm in retrospect, I know I was trying for visuals with way too much effort. I thought this was sort of the main problem.
Edit:
As an update, I tried again today and reached a similar point. This time the visuals were more vivid. I had my hands touching and I stopped being able to feel them.
Every time I had a new visual, I was in the visual doing stuff with my hands like typing, writing, and feeling things. I would feel bad because I knew I wasn't supposed to be moving at all, then I would realize that I wasn't actually moving my hands. This realization always made the visual go away.
Would outside noise interference (traffic, people in the other room, phone ringing) be what's causing this block? What else could be causing it?
